Winning road games in the MAC is daunting for any team. That is true in many conferences. If Rucker was healthy, I think NIU would have beaten Ohio.
If I had a straitjacket and a padded room, I would put you in one and send you there ASAP. 05-stirthepot
Rabid said Ohio would have beat NIU 100 out of 100 times. Thats just plain crazy talk. NIU was without one of their best players and still lost by a minimal amount. I dont think what I said was over the top.

+1 I agree our big dog would have gave them the fits inside. Just like he scored on the first basket. We lost by 7 without anything from Rucker.

Not sure if he would want to make the move but Jim Whitsell has done a great job at Loyola. In his 6th year at Loyola they are 13-11 so far and one of only 3 Illinois programs with a winning record this season. Loyola won 9 games the year before he took over and in 3 years he brought them to 21 wins. He obviously knows the area well having come to Loyola from Lewis University which had alot of success in D2. In the situation NIU is in the AD needs to make a bold choice to instill some enthusiasm in the program, another good candidate is DePaul women's hoops coach Doug Bruno. DePaul has been a winning program since he's taken over and he's guided the Lady Demons to a number of NCAA appearances. He may be happy coaching women's hoops but he should be a candidate.

A worse NIU team beat a better Ohio team in The Convo a few years ago.

Sometimes I wonder if Patton says this crap just to make it impossible for Compher not to fire him. He wants to go and if he acts like an @$$, Compher will have to fire him. Then can collect his money and doesnt have to put up with coaching NIU anymore.

I hope this is true, because scorched earth is a fun policy. He should get a swear word carved in his hair and coach without a shirt on. That'd be pretty sweeeeeet.

I too think he would like to get fired. He is not going to quit, but would be happy to be "relieved of his duties."

So does anyone have any idea why Madlock quit the team? I know it was stated as "personal reasons", and I don't want to delve into anything, but with Patton's history of chasing players off it wouldn't surprise me if he just dislikes playing for Patton.

i wish you were right but you're delusional. This program is dead. Poorly coached, put together in a haphazard way, its at rock bottom.

if Doug Bruno was going to leave the DePaul womens team, he would have done it a long time ago. He has a premier women's team and the court was named after him. He makes more then we could pay.

This circumstance and dialogue is a viscious circle with a dog chasing its tail.

I do really like the notion of Compher using all his win/win salesmanship skills to persuade Patton to retire.

if in your job you knew that if you got fired you would get yor last yrs salary, in this case 350,000, is there anyone on earth that could talk you into foregoing that last yr and give up the salary. Get real

Compher's "win/win salesmanship skills"? He has that? And persuasion is in his repertoire?

Where exactly is it that I said anything about surrendering a year's worth of salary?
