RE: Fire Tony Ingle?
Ouch...harsh thread. Tough to try and convince anyone otherwise when we are in the midst of a 3-4 game losing streak so I will save my breath but firing Ingle would be a huge mistake in my opinion.

RE: Fire Tony Ingle?
Kennesaw, I would normally agree with you that we should give him one more year. He has done alot for the program and should be allowed to finish his career here at Kennesaw. However with the current AD situation at Kennesaw, I believe it would be best to get rid of our beloved coach Ingle after this season (He should be forced to retire not fired). It would be wrong to bring in an AD and ask them to fire a coach that has been here as long as Coach Ingle has been here. It sets up an adversarial relation with the AD and the remaining coaches. So if we do not get rid of Ingle this year I would say that we need to hold on to him for a few more years, at least till after football is established. Thus with those two being the two best options in my opinion, I would rather see Ingle go after this season and not wait through another 4-5 years of the same underperformance we have witnessed this year. Ingle does not run any form of offensive play (the players have stood around for the last two years), the team concedes way too many points at the begining of the game and second half because they are not ready to play, and little to no improvemnet has been showed by players that Ingle has had for 2-3 years now. I can't take this for much longer!
I would also say that the University should treat him right, make him an honory AD of basketball (or an existing spot that he would fit into), or something of that nature. Let him pick up a small consulting fee and have a nice retirement.

Tough too make a call right now, but leaning toward 1 more year. Seems that this team has lost the excitement factor, and hard to say where that began but it begins each game with a lack of energy from the introductions, to the final buzzer. doesn't seem to be any pics made and the turnovers are increasing each game. Offense ? There is none ! Confidence? Forget it ! Been gone a while now ! Depth? Doesn't seem like we can make a substitution and keep any chemistry on the court. Don't seem to have much at tip either. This team needs a leader, no...2. ! One, on the court and one on the bench. Not sure who is going to step up first, but i needs to be done NOW!

RE: Fire Tony Ingle?
Let's not get things twisted here. He cannot coach, why would you put yourself in a position to get a technical foul with less than two minutes left in close game. The game has passed him by. He is calling plays that he used 5-7 years ago. He has one of the best point guards in the conference but doesn't use this to his advantage. When we went on our run tonight we had 5-6 different players score. Evidently when we called timeout we set up a play for Markeith to take a three, why not set up a play for Kelvin or Spencer to take the three and Markeith in position to get the rebound. This man has no clue. Why have assistant coaches if you don't take their advice into consideration. Why didn't we hire the assistant coach from Western Kentucky, maybe because he knew more than our head coach. Our coach has lost this team and the only thing that can rectify this is a new head coach.Give Ingle a cushy retirement pension and let him help with the new football process. If Kennesaw ever wants to be cosidered as a legitimate D-1 school then the administration needs to take it seriously from the president to the coaches, to the players and the fans. And in order to build that support you have to be competitive night in and night out. The coach needs to be able to have the respect of his players and be able to coach the fundamentals. It seems to me that if you recruit a kid out of high school he should be able to play defense and know how to block out for rebounds. Any decent coach should be able to draw up plays to get a basket when needed.

RE: Fire Tony Ingle?
You think retired and loyal Waples would do that? You think Papp would over step and say we need to fix this midseason with no immediate replacements?
People are getting ahead of themselves.
Could this be Ingle's last season? Maybe. I think this contract mentioned was a five year deal though. Can't google anything else about it.
Quote:"Following the 2006-07 season, head coach Tony Ingle was rewarded with a contract extension, the first multi-year extension offered in the history of Kennesaw State."
...
"The Kennesaw State basketball tradition belongs to Tony Ingle. Since arriving at Kennesaw State for the 2000-01 season he has done nothing less than win a NCAA Division II National Championship, lead the Owls to three consecutive NCAA Division II tournaments, win two regular season conference titles, a tournament title, a region crown and four consecutive 20-win seasons.
...
His teams have never finished lower than .500 in the league and he led the Owls to double-digit wins in their first two Division I seasons. In addition, Ingle helped lead the Owls to a two-week showing in the mid-major polls."

Hunt, While I think we are on the same page about what should be coach Ingle's fate as head coach at KSU, I do believe that calling a man that has done as much for our program as he has a scary redkneck is a little distastful. Tony Ingle was a very good Div II coach and has been with the program since it was NAIA. He won a national title at Div II., and it is this kind of success that allowed KSU to move to Div. I more seamlessly. For this he deserves our respect and not this kind of character assault.

Now that is a more appropriate shot across the bow. I don't agree with you on either case, but at least you were somewhat creative. I think Ingle is a great guy, a great leader, and a great person to follow into battle so to speak. I am rooting for him 100% to get it turned around. Hopefully he will.
