If I were the BE Comish
I would wait until summer during conference meetings in the summer, no one knows what kind of mess is going to on. B12 demise or nothing.

BE should not rush a choice they could have maid better later.

I would tend to agree....in that the deadline for the CUSA schools to get in by 2012 would be by the end of June of this year.

Since there is no rush to bring them in per se, just sit tight.

Nova will make their decision in April.

Then see if there is any fallout with the Big 12...question is how long do you wait?

The only problem I see with that.....is the vote by everyone in the BE was to go to 10. If you wait past April....and Nova accepts...then if the plan IS to go to 12.....you would have to get most everyone to along with that.

Whereas.....if you go ahead and invite someone prior to Nova accepting.....and get to 10.....then Nova accepts....ooops, sorry basketball schools....we accidently are at 11 now.....can't have that....we need to go to 12. You essentially work around needing another vote to expand because Nova "caused" a new situation.

I have a feeling that scenario is more likely.

Guys the Big 12 isn't going anywhere so holding up the future of our conference in something like that makes no sense whatsoever.

agreed, as much as we might want it, the BE is just their backup plan or something they can use as leverage. Unless the brass is hearing something different time to move on and as Brown Bull stated and we have heard the commish say, they are not waiting on Nova. They will probably have an idea which way Nova is leaning prior to the official announcement. With that in mind, they can offer a school and get the acceptance to 10 prior to the Nova announcement. Otherwise it could get sticky trying to expand again.

You may very well be right. The BE needs a quality team and non are open at the moment.

Schools have potential but the BE does not need potential they need ESTABLISHED teams

No one on the expansion board fits that right now.

The closest school to that is ECU but the only down side I see is that 4 other schools in that state are AQ's
But it does put BE BB heaver in the heart of ACC territory.

If BE goes CUSA route I hope its them not UCF

Maybe the commish will wait until after April 1st, when USF prez Judy Genshaft is replaced as the head of the Big East Board of Directors. Just sayin'. :)

We already picked up an established team, TCU. Now we need to add potential. UCF seems to be the next closest to being an established team, at least in the eyes of the people negotiating contracts, and Houston is a known name.

Yep, unless there is something coming from the Big 12 camp there is no reason to put the future of the conference on hold, on the hands of another conference.

Even if Nova says yes that would mean them coming aboard 2014-15. But I agree with you it will depend on what tagliabue presents on what the best money option is.

I would add UMASS to replace Boston College to get back into the Boston TV market.

I would try to nab every major state university in the states of New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, Delaware, and the District of Colombia. Too much? You'll cover any market that exists in all of those states.
