Yeah, the way some Sparty fans talk, this is closer to one of those "Yeah, you should retire this year, Rick. It'd be a really good idea, fi you know what I mean," sort of things.

I heard some rumors a couple weeks ago, but brushed them aside as pure BS. Now I'm not so sure.

RE: Comley retiring at end of season
That is still a very attractive job. MSU has historically had one of the most exceptional hockey programs in the country, with top flight facilities, great fan support, and a history of league and national championship success. My concern, of course, is that the new miracle worker in Kalamazoo might be attractive to the decision makers in East Lansing. "If he can achieve what he has achieved at Western, and in such short order, imagine what he could do for us".
I dont think MSU would go that way, because "conventional wisdom" (and pure smugness) dictates that an "established power" like MSU accept nothing less than a more "accomplished" and seasoned college coach. However, if they did offer it, that job, and the money that comes with it, would be hard for a young up and comer to turn down.
That would literally make me vomit.

BS, our athletic department needs to get creative and make sure he stays right here in Kalamazoo. They can do it if they use their heads, the potential is there for a great ROI. It's win/win for us.

When I asked Comley directly how much this was his decision. He said, "some....(pause)...some" #msu #ccha
You can rule out Shyiak and Kyle, then.
Highly doubt they'll look in this direction.
Edit: We're paying pretty well for college hockey now, I believe. Wiki had Comley making the same $150k that Blashill got, so the only difference there would be any endorsement deals.

Are you sure it isn't a "home run". OK, now you are starting to sound like Acer. Acer's starring role.
