Wait till we get a kid who had offers from UT, Ole Miss, Miss State and the Hogs before we get too excited about what a recruit said. It sounds like he committed, then wanted to see what other offers he had, then recommitted. He isnt a big time recruit so he decided to come here. Not really earth shattering news.

I can't believe it took an entire day for one of our redneck Tiger brethren to completely miss the point of my post. Actually, I figured it would be ncrdbl1 but your username tells me all I need to know. Tommy West bragged about signing the likes of Billy Barefield and Arkelon Hall. I'll trust Larry's eye for talent over that any day of the week.

Thanks for the compliment. Coming from someone with the character that you WISH you had, I find comfort that you cant handle the truth.

Sure, Porter is smooth, laid back and all business. But he couldnt sell bottled water to a camel herder. If you cant excite your fans and boosters and refuse to try, how can he excite his players to over achieve when they go against teams that have better talent than we do. What recruit wouldnt love to be interviewed on tv when he has a big game and catches the game winning pass his freshman year. It isnt gonna happen here, Porter wont let him talk.

When your trying to build something, that when you need to sell the program. Fans want to be involved, know whats going on behind the scenes. We know whats happening on the field, we sucked last year. Make the fans and boosters feel welcome. Anyone can sell a winning program, it takes a real man to sell a program thats hit rock bottom.

Apply your own logic:
the program is at rock bottom > what is there to sell?

It's not a "real man" who tries to sell that, it's a shyster.

You better start selling while you can and try to build excitement. If not, those 10,000 people crowds we had last year will continue. There are plenty of bad teams that draw big crowds. Its called marketing, and every successful business and sports program subscribes to it.

Coach Porter obviously has work to do, but so do we. From what I'm hearing, he is working on his end of it. What are we doing?

Don't flatter yourself. It's not hard to out a redneck troll when they've been here all of two weeks and posts the stuff you post. If you are gonna come here and stir $hit, at least have the decency to know what the hell you're flaming about. I can respect that.

Not looking for respect from someone of your low class. Still not sure what your point is? I am a redneck because I liked wrestling 35 years ago, or because I recognized a talented player while watching a game several weeks ago. Heck yea, if thats your definition of a redneck, GUILTY as charged.

You better start selling while you can and try to build excitement. If not, those 10,000 people crowds we had last year will continue. There are plenty of bad teams that draw big crowds. Its called marketing, and every successful business and sports program subscribes to it.

Mr. Elvis Lives,

You're the one criticizing and name calling. All I did was ask a question and nowhere did I say I 'know it all'. You will notice that I did not ask 'what are YOU doing'. I asked, 'what are WE doing', as in the collective WE, referencing all Tiger fans.

Perhaps you should hang out here a bit longer than a couple of weeks and get to know people before you start calling them names.

By the way, I don't owe you "details", but I'll give them anyway. My first season tickets for basketball where three rows from the top during the first year in the Pyramid. We've had season tickets for football since 1984. I am now a Super Tiger ($5,000 to $9,999 level) with the following season tickets; 6 for basketball, six for football, one for women's basketball, one for baseball and 3 passes for Tiger Lane.

I don't mind you defending yourself, but take the time to read my posts and get to know me before you start calling me names and making statements that I've done 'nothing but sit on my tale (s/b tail?) and criticize others'. If you are indeed the Tiger fan that you represent yourself to be, then the only thing I have left to say to you is thanks for supporting Tiger football as long you have and Go Tigers!

signed,
Mr. Jackwad

I have done my job. Donate, season tickets, travel to at least 2 road games every year. Explain in detail what have you done. Nothing but sit on your tale and criticize others.

If you are indeed the Tiger fan that you represent yourself to be, then the only thing I have left to say to you is thanks for supporting Tiger football as long you have and Go Tigers!

signed,
Mr. Jackwad

You acted like I dont go to games or take people. You give attendance figures that arent even close. You can pat yourself on the back all you want, but Porter needs to sell the program, network with the fans and boosters and want people to see the games even if we are bad and then he needs to build the talent.
