=>It always does look bizarre early on. But on Tuesday, the "MAC East vs. West Challenge" begins and you will start to see reality setting in to the seeding.

As has been the case for the last 7 or so years, the MAC East is dominant again:

Average MAC East RPI is 150.167
Average MAC West RPI is 252.833.

100 spot variance.

Every MAC East team is ranked 254 or better. Every MAC West team, except BSU, is ranked 252 or worse. Highest ranked teams in the MAC are from the East (#88 Kent, #90 Miami). 5 of the top 6 are from the East and 6 of the top 8 are from the East.

Also, I think Akron will beat BG this weekend which will end Akron's spot at the bottom.

Yeah, but that's because Toledo is in the West......

Yeah, but that's because Toledo is in the West......

=>Toledo is not even the lowest ranked! It is a collective effort by the West.

BSU is #102, WMU is #215, NIU is #252, CMU #290, Toledo is #328, EMU 330. There are only 345 teams in DI basketball.

I guess the RPI isn't very accurate. EMU is below us, but beat us by 23 points on our own home court.

Of course, the RPI is only designed to help identify the top 50 or so teams by the end of the season. Past that, it's not very useful, especially in trying to differentiate lousy teams in mid-season.

No system that doesn't take margin of victory into account can be considered reliable. Go with Basketball State, Sagarin, or Pomeroy if you want something better.

Actually, quite a few changes: KSU moved from 4th to 1st, BG moved from 1st to 3rd, Miami moved from 5th to 4th, and UB moved from 3rd to 5th. I believe 11 teams (except BSU) changed seeding spots from Sat. morning to today.

But who's counting!

Ummm, I don't think Toledo's seeding changed, after their 41 point offensive explosion against the Zips, at home nonetheless.
