Gus only got five minutes
but from the comments that Tucker and Vint were making, they were good minutes. Hope that indicates he is making progress.

Gus gave us a good 5 minutes. He was totally "gassed" when he came out. I guess, 5 minutes in "prime time" is a lot different than 5 minutes in practice.

I believe Bobby knows what he's talking about. Ray, well the jury is still out on him. I suppose he's pretty knowledgeable about basketball, but his constant whinning and moaning about the officiating turns me off.

RE: Gus only got five minutes
After last night's game, I have had 2nd thoughts about Leeper. Watching the warm-ups, it is clear Gus has a nice touch shooting from 10 to 12 ft. He can run the court well and he seems to want to be a player. He needs to add some weight and muscle and probably would have benefitted from a RedShirt year. Thinking about it, the coaches may be thinking he will be needed next year and needs some playing time.

Better or worse than you thought?

Better. I have no idea what the coaches are thinking but, just watching Gus on the floor, I believe he is the type who wants to be a player, will work hard to be the best he can be and overall will be the kind of player the coaches will want to have around.

I was talking to Mr. M about Gus. We agreed that despite the fond memories some may have of Jake and Too Tall, Gus is certainly as good and probably better than they were as freshman. He does seem to have a big upside- what worries me is that is exactly what I was saying about Derrick 4 years ago.

Gus seems to be the kind of kid who is going to listen and learn, though. At least I hope so.
