Thanks a lot for posting the progress guys. I didn't listen to the game, so it was good to get a feel for how it went down. And it did go down.

Plus side? I got to buy 50-50 tix from Ari Fisher and had a nice chat. Not every school has All-Americans selling 50-50 tickets in the lobby.

Well, that oughta teach the coach to try to instill discipline.

Not our finest hour but... I didn't leave the Savage Arena tonight thinking (as I did all last year); "why bother with season tickets anymore". Rocket Basketball (men and women) still gets me through chilly Toledo winters.

ITs bad when you lose at HOME by 24 to a team with NO D1 wins... but Last years EMU game was worse... we had 14 at half. ended with like 38.

RE: MBB: UT-EMU
Probably one of the worst games of the year, especially considering the opponent was not supposed to be one of the better teams in the MAC...We talk about next year with the transfers and a pretty good class coming in, but the missing link is that big man who can assert himself in the paint... This team is going to be guard heavy in the future, so if we don't eventually add some athletic big guys(not 6-8 players who do not finish on layups, and can't jump over a ritz cracker) we will struggle in games like EMU, and against even better competition...

Hopefully Dear gets bigger, and humes plays like he wants to. Tino Valencia wasn't that big and look how well he did in the paint. That dude wanted to play. I haven't seen an intensity like that in a long time. This team has so much potential, it starts this year not next. I want 10 wins at least. We are young but the tallent is there to beat teams like NIU and EMU. Even Ball state considering they lost to Valpo. Ive seen flashes, but I want to see consistancy.

The attendance was 4,486 and EMU had 16 offensive rebounds.
This is all the coach's fault. He told the players that conference play starts a new season so they played like it was October. Hopefully when they walked out of Savage they froze their balls off like I did mine and they'll realize it's January.

It seemed like every time Emu got the ball they were shooting a three and making it.....It was rough

Not sure why our best big man (Dear) was on the bench for the crucial initial 13 minutes of the second half. Hayden Humes is not able to catch the ball and convert in traffic. J. T. Thomas is a liability on offense and defense. he does not rotate to the ball on D at all.
It's hard to win when you can't score.
Dear looked almost like he wasn't feeling well (some of that probably had to do with EMU).

Sounds like coach may have a challenge getting these guys positive again.
Maybe EMU just had a hot night. It happens.

RE: MBB: UT-EMU
No amount of coaching can help this group. They are out manned. Coach will continue to work hard and the players will improve some but if they win two games in the MAC I would be surprised. Many of this years group will be hard pressed to play next year. The players know that, the scores are a direct reflection of their ability. This program was left in shambles, and will be back, you can count on that. Lets make sure to stay positive and have realistic expectations. We have been patient so far and keep in mind how sweet those winning streaks will be as we cheer our Rockets on through thick and thin.

I don't see Dear getting much bigger- more of a Sonnenberg body type. That being siad, he's gonna be a very good MAC center before he's done.

Thing I don't get is Humes can jump. He's jumped center for us. He's taken rebounds (well, at least A rebound - I remember it pretty clearly)
above the rim-he's obviously not Ty Kent or Stempin but he's got enough hops that he shouldn't have so much trouble getting a layup- sort of reminds me of MoLo - both of them had to gather themselves to jump- I think Humes gets up a little more but he can't do it quickly. Maybe a year of playing on the knee will give him some more confidence.
I like everything he brings out there but no one has to guard him and it kills us. Earlier in the year he was making some nice cuts off high picks and reversing on the baseline and getting easy scores but he's had so many blocked it seems like he's almost doing a Chuck Knoblock out there when he has an open layup.
