Here is the link to the article.

I would guess the university wanted a change or was just not happy with the direction of the athletic program under his leadership.

RE: Athletic Director
So, what does everyone think will be the CU administration's #1 priority for the new Director of Athletics?

What changes do Campbell fans want to see that could come about from a new A.D.?

RE: Athletic Director
Number one in my book is someone that will make it a priority to finish the facilities like football/baseball that have been started and uncompleted on campus. That may involve someone that can grease the wheels a little bit and fund raise a lot if necessary. Number two is someone that is personable and doesn't walk around like he is better than everyone else. Every time I saw the previous athletic director he was always frowning and seemed to be on the verge of berating someone. Also the many of the athletes I talked to over the years didn't seem to have any sort of personal relationship with Stan Williamson. That should never happen with a school of Campbell's size. Third in my book is a person that understands Campbell University is changing and that it is time to change the culture associated with the athletic department where just finishing in the top half or not in the cellar of a conference is fine and acceptable. Winning records should be expected. We should expect more and hold those coaches that are not meeting the goal of championships/winning records up to a higher standard. I would give a five year window for all besides football at this point and by the end of the cycle even include them. If you don't win a conference title or gain a post season berth by then it would be time to change. Those are just a few I can think of off the top of my head.

Ive never met him or spoke with him however what i saw(away from school off campus) was nothing but good for the most part. Brought football, new facility(although 1/2 finished), new bball facility, new baseball facility, and move to Big South. Those are all positives for me. I thought we had pretty good momentum.

RE: Athletic Director
He definitely had a part in all the growth the past few years, but the CU Administration and Board of Trustees certainly played a BIG part, too.

As far as priorities, I agree with 7778 that finishing facilities has to be #1 - especially the football stadium. The trailer in the sky is starting to look a little silly now approaching Year 4. Whatever it takes to finish Barker-Lane (wheel-greasing, boot-licking, ...whatever), I hope the next AD is good at it.

Wonder what kind of background the next AD will have? Basketball, football, other?

I think AD, Marketing Director, whoever need to start getting more students at the game. I didn't imagine that the days at Carter would have more excited and passionate fans.

One thing that I remember is before Stan, while I was still enrolled, the Camel Crazies program was well publicized. It give you great incentive to go to all the sports and not only basketball. Once Stan joined it seemed like that enthusiasm fell off. I don't know how its been marketed the last couple of years.

RE: Athletic Director
The fundraising has to do more with the economy over the past few years and all the projects happening and once than is does the fault of the AD or the Administration. You can only go back to the same well so many times. When the economy improves so will fundraising.

I thought he did a fairly good job and was a pretty good man. His kids went to school with my kids and he served on the board there and did a good job.

Maybe it was time for a change. I don't know. But he did not do a bad job.

The program the most in need of a coaching change is football. Coach Steele does not have a clue. The program has gone as far as it can with him at the helm.
