Hypocritical NCAA
I know it's a big problem trying to act like college sports is amatur but, thinking about the OhioState players who have helped that school bring in many millions $ over their 3 or 4 year careers including splitting 18 million for the Sugar Bowl and now those players are being punished for selling a few items so they can have a few bucks. I don't know the answer but there must be a better way to compensate the players. Uh, Student Athletes.

The whole thing is ridiculous. Like you said, the players make millions of dollars for the school and they can't sell a personal possession to make few bucks. I realize you are opening a can of worms by allowing it, but it is still ridiculous. And I really don't want to hear the BS about their getting a "free" education. In State tuition for Arkansas kids is probably around 3000 a semester. Many players could probably get some type of scholarship or pell grant to pay most of this, even if they didn't play sports. I guess getting a 50 to 60,000 dollar a year scholarship to a private school like Georgetown or Vandy might be a different story.

Don't athletes get some sort of stipend while they are in school? For food and what-not?

I believe most don't and that is the point of contention for many folks. They don't even have money to buy a pizza if they want to. I believe the UALR basketball players do get some type of stipend for food since they live off campus and don't have a meal plan like athletes at traditional campuses.

One more thought on this and I'm out. If the Ohio State coaches are concerned about integrity, appropriate punishment etc, why not suspend the players for the Sugar Bowl instead of taking away a half season next year. Being the skeptic that I am, truth be known, both Bowl Officials and ESPN had strong input on the punishment deal. I noticed in the ESPN post game show, Holtz and the others were ecstatic, could hardly contain themselves because of the final outcome of the game.

RE: Hypocritical NCAA
Speaking of Lou Holtz, I noticed that the Democrap had to take a pot shot at Lou, evidently because he picked Ohio State to win the game on the pregame show. They mentioned that "Holtz coached the Razorbacks in their most recent Sugar Bowl appearance, which they lost 24-9 to Alabama on Jan. 1, 1980". They failed to mention that he lead underdog Arkansas to a great Orange Bowl win over Oklahoma in 1979 when he had suspended several of his key starters for team rule violations. And as recall, they didn't just squeak by Oklahoma either. Don't give Lou any credit for anything good.

Sounds like some of our fans who like to point out that Mouzy hits many of his shots during garbage time, and fails to point out the times he hit big key shots that enabled us to win games in past years.
