ASC as of 1/2/11
Now that the non-conference schedule has been completed it is time to look at where the ASC stands going into the conference schedule. A look at each team with their Best Win-Best Loss-Worst Loss might give us some idea's as to how the ASC season may unfold. I have ranked the teams from top to bottom as I see each team's performance to date.
Belmont (10-3)
BW - (N) Winthrop 71-44 Destroyed a very athletic & experienced team
BL - @ UT 65-66
WL - @ Vandy 76-85
Belmont has handily beat most of their mid/low-major competition. Their depth is very impressive and their bigs are playing well. Could not pull off wins vs. UT in two close games however.
Lipscomb (7-4)
BW- @ Austin Peay 73-70
BL - @ UNC 66-80
WL - @ Alabama 51-71 Alabama does not appear to be this good
An obviously talented team, Slater and Hodzic are lighting it up. Best win is over A-P by 3 though. Not totally sold.
Jacksonville (8-3)
BW - @ Florida 71-68 Caught a pretty good UF team at perfect time
BL - @ Miami 77-89 1st game & JU was missing a couple key players
WL - @ St Louis 64-69 JU blows a 18 pt lead with 16 mins to go.
As I said back in October, this is Warren's deepest and most athletic team. However, I expected more struggles given all the new pieces. Will the freshmen get better or will they fatigue and falter in league play? A tough stretch at Campbell, Belmont and Lipscomb over next 8 days will tell a lot.
ETSU (6-7)
BW - @ Dayton 73-68 Dayton is 12-3
BL - @ Murray St 39-50 It may not look so ugly come March
WL - @ USCU 59-60
Will it be the team that beat Campbell, Miss St, and Dayton or....?
Campbell (7-4)
BW - (N) Auburn 71-54 I know, I know, but it is the SEC
BL - @ Va Tech 60-70
WL - @ ECU 63-71
A team with a lot of new, albeit talented parts added to a great backcourt.
Mercer (3-10)
BW - Navy 73-68
BL - UGA 53-56 Almost another SEC-ASC victim
WL -Gardner-Webb 65-78
I have been impressed with how well Mercer's Sr's have played especially Mills. Freshman Langston Hall is going to be a great player. Will be a tough out in Macon in March.
UNF (4-7)
BW - @ Wyoming 76-60
BL - @ Purdue 57-77
WL - Stetson 64-74
A very young team. If Parker Smith and Granberry are ON they can score some points
FGCU (3-8)
BW - NC Central 87-68
BL - Miami 75-87
WL - @ Toledo 63-75
Banks is a very good player. Really depends on how much and how fast Cantinol can contribute
USCU (2-10)
BW - ETSU 60-59 Beat Mr Hyde in Spartanburg
BL - @ Va Tech 53-64
WL - @ Michigan 35-66
Have a couple very good freshmen.
Stetson (3-9)
BW - @ Wake Forest 89-79
BL - Rice 63-66
WL - Palm Beach Atlantic 55-61
Waugh has some problems. This team is way too talented to be losing to PBA.
Kennesaw St. (2-10)
BW - Ga Tech 80-63
BL - UTC 69-73
WL - SIU-Edwardsville 76-77
KSU is riding a ten game losing streak into January. One would think that with Cummings and Green KSU could play Laurel and Hardy at the guards and beat SIU-E. Without doubt the ASC's biggest disappointment.

Nice rundown of the league. Can't really argue with much here. Belmont is clearly the team to beat -- by a wide margin. I like JU as well after watching them play @ Florida.

I sense that there are 10 teams playing for 2nd place
