Looking at ASU last night, it's obvious that
Trey Finn had a great night, but others pitched in also. Adams had around 12 points, which is more than any of our big men ever seem to score. In order to win most games, you need at least three players in double figures, and several more with seven or eight points each. That's what we lack. Steve likes defensive players. That's fine. But your defensive players still have to give you that seven or eight points or they're worthless. They're normally not going to hold their men to no points, no matter how good they are defensively. That's been, IMO, the inherent weakness of our program. We expect one or two players at the most to do all or most of our scoring, and it's not enough when you play most teams, since they'll have more balanced scoring from their non starters or non stars. The winning formula is probably: One player in high double figures. Two more in double figures Four more players four to eight points each. That's how you win games and championships. Until our coaches figure out how to accomplish this we will not ever have a top SBC program.
