critical stretch coming up
North Texas would have been a very nice win, but it was on the road against a good team. However, we do have a critical stretch of games coming up if we are to make anything of this season. Denver and St. Bony are winnable games. Then comes a stretch of 12 games of which Pomeroy picks us to win ten. We need to do that - at least.

Pomeroy obviously hasn't seen us play in person. It will be a miracle, although a nice one, should we win ten out of the next twelve games. As I have said, it's possible, but not without some changes in our use of personnel. Our defense just isn't good enough to beat good teams, so our only chance is to outscore them and that means having more firepower in the lineup.

They don't have to, because they do not predict: they just project.

Predict. Project. Whatever. Nothing matters except what happens on the court anyway, but it give us sports junkies something to talk about between games.

My point is that to predict you have to know something specific about the team. What these guys do is purely mathematical. If you only projected, you would never pick a team with a lot of intangibles, because they are not easily reflected in stats. Pomeroy just knows who we have played and the results, and likewise for the other SBC teams. And mathematically, most of them are worse than we are.

On paper, we should win tomorrow. We're mathmatically rated much better than they are. Probably more athletic also, but they're always tough to beat on their home court. If RPI ratings mean anything we should clobber them. We're #118 and they're #303. Probably won't mean a thing, but we can always hope.

Seems like last Denver won 100% of their home games and won 100% of their road games.

Good memory. They did beat UNO on the road, but outside of that the conference schedule was to that pattern.
