We had better win the majority of our home
games because it looks like we can't win on the road. Our offense sucks. It's drive in and try and draw a foul. There aren't enough players getting involved in the offense. We don't shoot enough three point shots for a relatively small team and the right players aren't shooting them. When you've got a guy who's made 177 three point shots in his career sitting on the bench most games while you're getting your butt kicked, something is wrong.

Courtney did a good job tonight, but he still can't make a free throw. Beats anything I ever saw. Is Wayne Burton his free throw coach? I think the pieces just aren't being put together properly. We had better beat Denver cause we don't want to get off to a 0-2 start in league play.

I've been hearing all the pre-season about our non conference schedule being to tough, but we're probably as good as most of the teams in our league. We had best starting winning some games on the road or we'll be toast again this season. Our team has come off a disastrous season, and every loss now is magnified and the players are going to get down on themselves. Robert C. and others want to see progress. I'm not seeing it. Not at all.03-banghead

RE: We had better win the majority of our home
This was not a critical game. All the home games, the UL road games, and the Florida games are the ones we need. We win at Denver and trade the FAU game.

RE: We had better win the majority of our home
I might have to disagree a little. In a normal situation, being the underdog on the road against a good team like UNT and losing wouldn't be a big deal. But we've come off a disastrous season, coaches can't seem to come up with a stable rotation, and players are starting to play one on one and see how many points they can score without getting others involved in the game. We just look like we expect to lose. We have no senior leadership. It seems to be "all about me", just like last year. It's not that we don't have some decent players.
The coaches haven't put the right pieces in place, IMO. There's just something missing. I can't describe it, but I can see it. Very disappointing. Anyone who has read this board for a number of years knows that I was always Mr. Optimistic. Always thought we'd do better than we ended up doing. But I am tired of the same old stuff. The same old excuses. As Robert C. says, it's time to put up or shut up. We deserve better.

The doom and gloom after losing a game everyone figured we would lose is rather amazing. I just read the paper here and this is UNT's best start in almost 60 years. They have the 11th longest home winning streak of any team in the country. They won the league last year and will probably do so again this year, although we still get them at home. Yes and we'll probably lose at Denver since we always do. Just so happens we start the season with our toughest 2 game road swing. I'm still withholding judgement on this team until we get ASU at home in 3 weeks. We lose to those guys I won't be a happy camper either.

It's the Troy game at The Jack that is in the "have to win" category.

I think we will be ok. I just don't think we match-up with them. Hopefully someone we can beat will beat them in the tournament.

Let's play it is to early to get firesteve.com going and tell all the players that they suck. We are going to win 10 or more league games with the press. The set offense may suck but we will win games in other areas.

RE: We had better win the majority of our home
It's really bad when folks are starting to be more optimistic than I am. I've been teased for years about being the eternal optimist on this board. Well, I seem to have lost my position to others. I'm getting to be more along the lines of Trojan and Robert C. Stop talking and show me.

Like with ORU, we will win the rematch (at the Jack).

North Texas is definitely more talented than ORU. If we beat them, we'll have to play lights out and everyone will have to play as well as they can possibly play and the coach will have to let them play as well as they can play.

The original game with ORU (I was there) ORU shot lights out. I was at the NT game and they did not impress me that much and I just feel we will beat them the second time around.

RE: We had better win the majority of our home
If Josh White, Tristen Thompson and Odudufu, or whatever his name is are healthy, our chances of winning here are very slim. I won't go so far to say none, because there's always a chance to win at home, but I just think they have too many horses for us this year. And I sure don't want to play them in the first game of the SBC or we'll be going home early again. Now I'm going to hedge my bet by saying that if a certain player who I won't name for fear of being chastised gets into the starting lineup and starts playing a major role, we might have a chance. Otherwise. Nope. Sorry. The truth hurts but it supposedly always sets you free. I'm FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I think we'll beat NT at the Jack. I still think they win our side and we finish second. So we won't meet them until the Tournament Championship game.

Even they won't shoot 60% overall and 40% from the arc in most games.

RE: We had better win the majority of our home
This is one time I hope you're right and I'm wrong, but I don't think this team is together. We were picked fourth or fifth. And unless something drastic happens, we might just finish there. But maybe I'm completely misguided. Maybe all of a sudden we'll pick it up and start winning and the world will be right again.

RE: We had better win the majority of our home
I think the magic number for UALR is 2. As it 2-seed in Hot Springs.

Losing to the preseason favorite on the road is not the end of your season. Getting less than a two seed in Hot Springs likely will be the end of your season.

The bye is everything. Overwhelming odds are that one of the four teams with a bye will go to the NCAA. If you get that two seed then you won't have to play North Texas until the championship and I'm not sure that there is anyone else in the tourney that will be quite as tough as them.

BTW: If WKU can't win this year (and I don't think we can unless things change a bunch) then I will definately be pulling for you guys. Hope you get one.

I think we have a realistic shot at winning the tournament this year given all of the variables.

We always say that but it seems like a lot of teams shoot 50% percent from the floor against us. Pappy is that true of the D1 teams we have played?

Thx, You are right wku's guard play is just not enough this year. I don't see wku making the finals this year but I don't know that that means ualr will either. Just means new blood against nt inn the finals.
