the way it was 20 years ago. An urban school for kids who couldn't afford to go anywhere else, or older folks working toward their degrees while working at a job. I believe that's why when we talk about recruiting, they always use the excuse that it's not a traditional university and it's difficult to recruit to.
Well when I see the difference in that campus from where it was 20 years ago, I see a modern university with a good educational system, with more full time students, with some student housing and more to come, a new athletic complex ready to be constructed. What I'm saying is that some of us seem to have an inferiority complex about UALR.
I'm not saying it's the finest campus in the world, but it's come a long way through the years, and it's certainly nothing about which to be ashamed, and I still feel that there's no reason why we can't recruit better players than we have through the years. Remember the saying.
There are only two types of coaches. Those who have talented players, and those who are unemployed. Talent wins championships.
There's no getting around it. And obviously for the past twenty or so years, we haven't had the talent to compete at the highest levels of the Sun Belt. That has to change at some point. Otherwise, we'll just sit mired in mediocrity (Sorry Mr. Mediocrity) forever.
