some Bowl ticket prices
lowest to get you in the stadium, from Stubhub:

BCS title game: $995 ... anticipating a classic

Rose: $174 ... Rose has the cachet

Cotton: $74 ... that's for Standing Room Only. Lowest for an actual
seat is $186. LSU and AM fans love this game.

Outback: $70 ... and just 1 ticket at that price. The next lowest is
$90. Saying goodbye to Urban

Sugar: $74 ... hawgs and bucks still excited about it

Chik-Fil-A: $65 .. FSU vs Spurrier, it's the 1990s again. And Atlanta
is a good party town

Military: $55 ... Maryland playing at home, ECU travels well, high DC
prices .. or saying goodbye to Fridge?

Sun: $48 ... Miami/ND has the markee

Texas: $47 ... Baylor home game, Illinois travels well

CapOne: $45 .. MSU gets its own Saban Bowl

Ticketcity: $42 ... NWU and TT fans are enthused, for some reason

Pinstripe: $40 ... hard to tell, with prices so inflated in NYC. This
is probably $20 anywhere else

BBVA: $37 .... Pitt or Kentucky fans motivated by this? Saying goodbye
to Wanny?

Liberty: $25 ... UGA fans show up, and UCF is excited to get the
matchup

Insight: $24 ... Phoenix in December is gorgeous

Meineke Car Care: $24 ... Clemson fans showing up? USF?

Music City: $20 .. not even UT can sell this match of disappointing
teams

Gator: $18.50 .. Michigan/Miss ST, what a dull matchup for the
inaugural B10-SEC format

Champs: $14 ... neither NCST or WVU fans care about this

Fiesta: $13 ... no doubt will be in single-digits on game day

Orange: $10 ... probably will be $4 outside the stadium before
kickoff

Alamo: $4 ... no interest in this B10/B12 game, too bad, probably will
be a good one.

Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl: $0 ... not tix offered for this turkey

My take on that was Champs and Notre Dame both felt the Sun was a better fit for the Irish. It was better for Notre Dame because of the ability to make the same money as Champs would offer while still retaining the Champs option in the future 3 years, plus the chance for a nice matchup with old 80s rival Miami.

For Champs, the thinking was that ND was marginal at 7-5 while WVU was finishing strong at 9-3. The problem, however, is that WVU fans were not upbeat about the team, rather they were frustrated with the head coach, who was perceived as blowing what should have been a BCS season.

Likewise, NC State fans were down as well, because of the disappointing finish that saw them lblow a spot in the ACC title game.

So that's a long way of saying i agree with you. :)

In the end, both bowls that the Big East has been involved with in Florida- Champs and Gator - ended up with poor matchups while the Sun came up Roses.

Yeah...on Dec 31st...the Sun Bowl is going to get a very good rating with the Miami/Notre Dame match-up on CBS (I think this is one of just 1 or 2 bowl games on CBS) as the only other competition is the 2nd half of the USF/Clemson Car Care Bowl and the 1st half of the UCF/Georgia Liberty Bowl Game.

CBS/Sun Bowl is going to make out like a bandit this year.

The Sun is the only bowl on CBS. All the bowls are on the "ESPN family of networks" except for the Sun, and the Cotton, which is on FOX.

No doubt, CBS officials are happy with the Sun matchup.

Is the Texas Bowl not on NFL network anymore? All the more reason we should try to get into it.

Correct...ESPN acquired the Texas Bowl and its now on Dec 29th at 6 pm on ESPN.

Much better date/time and obviously channel compared to some past dates on the NFL Network.

ESPN buys the Texas Bowl

I just don't think that I would pay $995.00 to see any game of any kind. The Auburn-Oregon game might be a good one or it could be a dog if Auburn does what I think they will do. OTOH, the Liberty Bowl at $25 will be a steal if it's not freezing cold and snowing.

I'd imagine it would depend on your wealth. If you make $5 million a year, $995 is a drop in the bucket, you'd pay without batting an eye.

If they'd throw in a night in a suite with a good looking hooker, I'm sure they'd have a lot more buyers...

RE: some Bowl ticket prices
exactly right, i've never seen a lower degree of enthusiasm for a WVU bowl game - ever. And it's a 9-3 team going up against a solid ACC program.

It's not hard to see why. WVU fans are essentially just waiting for next season, Bill Stewart's exit, and hopefully bigger and better things.

2 BCS wins spoils a fan base. For better or worse, the expectations at WVU are much higher than before the DickRod years.

Is the Texas Bowl not on NFL network anymore? All the more reason we should try to get into it.

As quo mentioned, ESPN has taken over bowl coverage. To be even more specific, here's the breakdown of the 35 bowls:

ESPN: 29 bowls
ESPN2: 2 bowls (Independence & Gator)
ESPNU: 1 bowl (TicketCity)
ABC: 1 bowl (Outback)

CBS: 1 bowl (Sun)
Fox: 1 bowl (Cotton)

The Gator, TicketCity, and Outback are only on ESPN's sister stations because we have 4 games starting within an hour of each other on New Year's Day afternoon.

The Independence Bowl is on ESPN2 tomorrow because it does not trump ESPN's Monday Night Football coverage. And the Big East reared it's basketball head, and the game starts at 5pm EST so they can have a Big Monday premiere with UConn vs. Pitt at 8:30pm EST.

Military Bowl isn't only $55, their are $90 tickets and ther upper deck has some $25. Ticket prices where set before the team where selected. Both the terps and pirates have sold their 10,000 seat allotments. Less than 10,000 total tickets remain. From the sells so far it is looking like ECU will out number Maryland fans.

The $55 price was the lowest price on stubhub for any single ticket anywhere in the stadium, at the time i made the post.

Maryland fans have to be disappointed in getting rewarded with an 8-4 season with a 5-mile "road trip" to play a non-AQ school, but still with the game right there you have to imagine some MD fans will wander into the stadium on game day.

Champs Bowl will be fine. Those that would watch an NFL game would most likely not tune in for a college bowl game. You must remember that the Champs bowl is part of an organization that will also be working with bringing a 'neutral' Notre Dame to Orlando, so having the Irish happy with them will pay off in the long run.

I don't buy that. I think most football fans are like me - rabid about both college and the NFL. I watched a full slate of NFL action yesterday, then tuned in for the lowly pizzal bowl too.

Watching Champs was an easy call for me, but now with Vikes/Philly on for some of the same time, it isn't, it's a bit of a quandary during the time frame they overlap, which is essentially the second half of Champs.

I think it quite likely that the NFL game will eat in to the Champs TV audience in the second half, when they overlap, as it will the first half of the Insight bowl.

You are not in majority. I can safely tell you that most of the people that i know down here that go to Dolhin games and are dolphin supporters do not go or watch most Canes games. Lok at Philly and the support of the eagles and see how many go to Temple games?
Its a different crowd, now are there some that watch both absolutely but is not as many as you think, I love college football and watch some NFL, in fact my favorite NFL team is the Vikes but I wont be watching them tuesday, their season is done.
