Some of you will scoff
but maybe the most enjoyable season I have had as a Trojan fan was a losing season - the year JJ won the national rebounding title. He was such an enjoyable kid to root for and his story was so unique. To see "Little Rock" up there at the top of the list, even in an individual stat, was a treat.

And I will never forget the night I saw him set the single game record.

Was it 30 or 31 rebounds against UAPB? I remember my grandson beginning to count each rebound and it was something special.04-cheers

Not at all. I think I've enjoyed every season as a UALR fan. Even Sidney's 4 win season, since I enjoyed sitting in a spanking new state of the art arena which I had been waiting on for 2 decades. Win or lose, there are always some unique players to root for and even in our worst years, we usually are competitive at home and win our share of those games. JJ was a unique player and I enjoyed him as well.

Scotto is probably scoffing his head off as we speak. If he can find a picture of scoffing to post, we'll know he really is the genius of the UALR board.04-cheers

I guess you guys are just better fans than I. While I've enjoyed most of my years of supporting the Trojans, I have to admit that I'm losing interest. I have already quit listening to the games on the radio. Between getting pasted on the road and having to listen to Ray Tucker trying to describe the action, is more than I can take. Not winning any championships in 20 years also has taken its toll on me. Anyone who can say that they've enjoyed a mediocre program through all of this adversity, is a better fan than I.

And mjs, you even enjoyed the Newell years? After all he was only a "pretty decent coach." I hope I quoted you correctly there.

I like college basketball. Trojans are my local team. I support them, buy tickets and go to the games. But even in the bad years, there is always amazing talent on the floor. It's just it doesn't always wear white.

I believe I acknowledged that he was a "great" coach at UALR. Looking at the total picture of his career, which includes Lamar and UAM, I said he was a pretty decent coach.

I was going to make a clever comment here, but in honor of PC I will refrain.04-cheers

That would be I. Thank you.
