I'm happy Matt got to play more tonight, but not because he played more minutes than Chucky or any other player. I want all our players to succeed. I just felt like nine or three minutes for Matt wasn't a fair amount of time. The funny part tonight was that I didn't get to see any of Matt's field goals in the first half because my out of town family came in and I had to be at the dinner table. I saw some of the second half but the only points he scored were his two free throws. But he did run the team from the point a lot down the stretch. Missed a few shots, one he had to take when the shot clock was about to run out. But it was a good win. Congratulations to the coaches and players.04-cheers

I'm right here reading all this bull**** you put out when we win, but never crawl out from under your rock when we lose. We never hear from you when those Trojan ass whippings occur. Win a game, and ole Jim crawls out from under that rock to get some sunshine.04-cheers

You got that right, at least on my part. While we disagree totally on this issue, I don't have a problem with him or any others expressing their opinions on this coaching issue. Evidently some others do. But, if he wants to keep up this sniping, I'll play his game as long as he wants to. And, I don't recall getting nasty, or doing any name calling with him or anyone else, but I do plead guilty to returning his fire.:noisycricket:

I have no problem with Bob. I enjoy talking with him at the games and I know we're both on the same side when it comes to Trojans. I did think referring to my coming out of my hole was somewhat nasty, but I have no anger management issues and I don't hold grudges. I'll shake Bob's hand the next time I see him if he feels the same way. I'm not saying we won't tussle again on the board, but if both of us can take it as well as we can dish it out, then I don't see that it's any big deal if we vent our frustrations with each other's postings from time to time.

No problems here Jim. For my part, most of the barbs thrown at you were done in jest. As for as "out the hole", I don't remember using that one, but I may have. I thought that it was "out from under the rock." I consider you a Trojan friend. We won't ever agree on the Shields issue, and perhaps others. I'm pretty sure we'll spar again over some issues. I'll be happy to shake your hand anytime or any place Jim.

It is past time for a coaching change though.04-cheers

RE: Doc will be happy.
A good season this year will go a long way in determining what will happen with our coaching situation. Most have speculated that Steve would have at least one more year, regardless of what happened this year. If we had another disastrous season, next season would probabably be the determining season. But if we do well this season, I can't see any change happening for several more years, unless the change was precipitated by Steve in accepting another position somewhere else. That just seems to make sense. Unless there are other factors of which we are not aware.

I'm sure there'll be no Appomattox surrender on this issue from either side. I still support the team, I'd never pull against the team, but I no longer support Steve as the coach. I wish him well, and I think he's a good man. I'm just ready for some new blood. Somewhere down the line you're probably going to holler "uncle". I'm afraid I'm getting close to that point. 04-cheers

I've always thought a program, not just ours but any program, had to show improvement. We've had some good seasons, but we haven't been able to sustain them or turn them into better seasons. We've won 20 games a couple of times. That's fine. But when you win 20 games, you expect to build on that. You can't go from 23 wins to 6 D1 wins in one season and think the program is showing improvement.

So what exactly would be a fair way to measure improvement? I think at this point, just two things. Improved attendance and post season appearances. There's nothing else left to accomplish And those are easily measured. And thus far we haven't accomplished either. Like quotas for sales managers, at some point those goals should be required to be met. And regardless of my personal affection for a coach, I have to believe that a coach either attains those goals in a reasonable amount of time, or a new coach is given an opportunity to do so. That's only fair to the fans who give of their time and money to support a program. Personal feelings shouldn't really enter into that kind of decision by an AD.04-rock
