I can't figure it out
Are we that much less talented than Akron, Rice, MoState, etc.?

Are we simply too slow?

Do our players simply not get what they are being taught?

Are we that much less well coached?

I really don't have an answer right now. I just can't believe the players aren't taught to rotate on defense and to not let players consistently have wide open 3 point shots. But, I guess if we came out on their shooters they would have thrown it inside for easy layups all night as their inside players were much bigger and much better than ours. So I guess its which poison we'd rather take.

I don't think we have a player that would start on Akron's team. Solo might be in their 8 man rotation, but I wouldn't bet on it. We have no one that can come close to matching up with a decent 7 footer, and Akron's kid looked more than decent.

I can't, either. But the coaches cannot play the game. Maybe that is why we play so many different players - they just aren't doing it.

Pick 7 and go with them. Very few teams play as many players as we do. Hard to keep em all happy campers.

Pretty much impossible, I would say.

That's pretty much what we did last night. 7 players played 178 out of the 200 available minutes. What concerns me the most is Kibi, Marlo, and Bails played a total of 10 minutes. I felt Bails having a big season was the key for this team. That doesn't look like its going to happen. I thought Marlo would step in and give us a big body who could also hit from the outside. That hasn't happened. I thought Kibi would be a force for us at the 4. He has played quite well this year, but he simply can't match up against the size of a team like Akron. In general, I don't have a clue what 7, I would pick out of this bunch. Really, no one (maybe Solo?) has played with any consistency so far. I think the coaches are having the same problem.

RE: I can't figure it out
I like Pappy's comment about going with your strength, especially against teams that are bigger (Akron and ORU to name two). Sets some screens and let our guards shoot away. I'd put in 4 guards, a small forward and wear the other team out.

Good thing I'm not the coach. We'd be 0-for-whatever.

No doubt. The perimeter has pretty much settled itself out as to who, but the post play is (still) the perennial problem.

Help is on the way.
