Allow me to comment on what is probably the
only slightly negative thing you'll ever see or hear me say about III.
In defense of Coach Shields, and those of you who have been down on his defensive capabilities, I have noticed that III has probably not regained all his quickness on defense that he possessed prior to his foot surgery.
Over the past couple of years, and this came from his strength coach, he had improved his quickness considerably, and I believe the last couple of seasons he was just as effective on defense as any of our guards.
However this season I have seen him not only get beaten, but beaten pretty badly on occasion. That is why I feel he is still working his way back physically to where he was before his injury. I'm not saying he'll ever be your shut down guard, but at full strength he's effective enough to where his offensive abilities will far exceed his defensive liabilities. With that said, I'm glad to see his shot coming around, and I feel as the season progresses, as his conditioning continues to progress, he'll figure more into Coach Shield's plans.
