RE: UCF basketball now 9-0
UCF hasnt really beaten anyone of note. But everyone who they played they gave them a beatdown pretty much. If they continue winning they could be the second school out of Cusa to make it into the tourney this season.

West Florida W 115-61
Jackson St. W 80-39
South Florida W 65-59
Stetson W 85-58
Alabama St. W 84-48
Florida W 57-54
SE Louisiana W 74-49
Bethune-Cookman W 76-59
LA Lafayette W 79-58

Southern Miss has an rpi of 32 right now (per warrenolan.com)....they have a very solid win @ Cal. Keep an eye on them....they could be a 3rd team to make it out of C-USA.

Yeah, who the hell are those "Florida" guys, anyways? What're they, Division 3?

If UCF were in The BEast, they'd have a conference win. Nobody else can say that at the moment...

Florida is not a good team. They have played one team with a pulse and got hammered, and have already lost 2 games. I know that you think its a good win, but I would be surprised if they get to the Tourney this season. I do think that UCF could win Cusa this year by the looks of things. The only obstacle I see is Memphis. Maybe Miami.

That would probably be because no one has played a BE game yet.

If UCF beats Miami Saturday, it would spring us into the Top 25 polls (already in most RPI 25s I think).

but it doesn't matter much.

Lets see how we do against CUSA. The conference overall looks to be decent (sorry ECU, at least you have baseball soon!), so I think we will have our hands full!

RE: UCF basketball now 9-0
Just to chime in -

We all know that a decision such as conference expansion isn't going to come down to a player, a game or a team, right?

This is a "program-level" decision.

I personally feel good about where UCF's programs are at - but their value, to me, aren't increasing because of sneaking in at #25 in football for 1-2 weeks or a nice 9 game run in basketball.

For a season to be a "program changer" it has to do just that. And that would require a major shift in recruiting (not just some good pickups) or a deep deep run in the tournament or a BCS bowl - but even then, it isn't a given. Boise has maintained the success it started in football but George Mason was just a nice story in basketball.

Take this UCF stuff to the CUSA board. We don't care.

That doesn't make any sense. This is an expansion board. Therefore it is natural for candidate schools to be discussed in various aspects. Probably partly why this board exists in the first place.

Why did you have to throw that DIG in there?

Temple SOS: 20
UCF SOS: 142

Teams with better SOS than UCF:

Holy Cross 90
AR Pine Bluff 82
Bryant 72
Prairie View A&M 26
Alcorn State 21

UCF is doing what Cleveland State is doing: racking up as many wins as possible and pumping their RPI up by beating D-I dregs.

Well...if we beat Miami and then go on the road and take care of UMass...would that help?
