This is a good interview. Looks like 12 football teams is the magic number.

I would change the divisions and names...hate to see how much the big 10 paid for what they came up with but they have money to burn and types that love to study things:

Division A

Michigan
Ohio State
Indiana
Purdue
Wisconsin
Minnesota

Division B

Michigan state
Penn state
Nebraska
Iowa
Northwestern
Illinois

Play a 5-1-2 format with permanent game of MSU/UM, PSU/OSU, Neb/Wis, Iowa/MIn, NW/Pur, and Ill/IU

Extremely interesting interview, I got the sense he feels everything is settled with Notre Dame, the Big IIX, Pac 12 and themselves. If that is the case and if we are serious about going to 10 Football members then we can really take our time and see which might be the best fit.

All I will say the boys in Orlando better hope that Nova ends up saying no from reading into the comments from the BIG EAST commish.

Interesting comments about Notre Dame and the "independent destiny." Does anyone else think that if Notre Dame cannot get an NBC type contract at any point in the future that they just might see a different destiny? Then again, maybe they will always have that kind of clout.

Notre Shame is a program in decline. But, everything is cyclical. I don't expect to see them enjoying the football success of their storied past for quite a while. The one thing that Notre Shame has going for it is marketability. All Catholics hold Notre Shame up as the Holy Grail. Therefore they will always be in demand, no matter how bad they are. Across the nation Catholic households will turn their TV's on faithfully watch the Irish play.

Yep, this is what I said a few months ago that Delaney basically said this at a Big Ten press conference. Also, I don't know why there are Big East fans trashing Notre Dame, they're helping us get a good TV deal, a conference network and they probably helped spear head expansion, all things that are helpful and healthy for the conference.

That's pretty much exactly what I'd do too. Wish it was the case.04-cheers

I hope you didn't take my comments as an attempt to trash Notre Dame. I would like nothing better than to see ND join the BE in football but if they don't then having them in other sports is a big plus. I just mean that if they ever get to the point where they cannot negotiate a huge TV contract on their own then maybe they will look at independence in a different way. Meaning that perhaps they will join us for all sports.

No, no, that wasn't aimed at you at all. In fact your post brings up a point that Notre Dame and their fans are worried about. In particular Notre Dame administration, and that's why I think they're the ones spearheading Big East expansion. That way they can get a very good basketball contract and can give the revenue generated by a Big East Network. I actually agree with your posts.

Also a side note, I might as well add it to this post instead of creating a new one, Delaney and Marinatto are good friends so I had a feeling that Delaney would watch out for him and the Big East. And I find it interesting that he has talked really well about Notre Dame and the Big East, including calling us a super conference. I kind of wonder if he's happy that we added TCU. He has been very vocal about his anger toward non-AQ schools and conferences and I kind of wonder if he is happy that a non-AQ power has been taken away.
