Updates on Pitt HC search (12-15)
Looks like the next guy might be either Mike Haywood (HC - Miami OH) or Todd Graham (HC - Tulsa)

Todd Graham was a hot name a couple of years ago but that seems to have fizzled some. Losing Gus Malzahn will do that. Though Tulsa could potentially win 10 games this year.

I think Todd Graham is the HC at Tulsa. He was at WVU a few years during the RR era.

Jackson

You are correct Jackson. I had the wrong first name.

No worries......It looks like it's going to be Haywood.

Haywood did a great job winning the MAC but I guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes. I mean he did lose to Cincy 45-3 this year.

It looks like the whole Big East is gearing up for 2012 or 2013. Looks like there is more going on than has been made public. Get a good coach Pitt. 04-cheers

Haywood engineered a big turnaround at Miami, but it doesn't exactly strike me as a "home-run" hire if this is the guy. You fire Wannstadt for this? I dunno.

But who knows. Some great coaches have come from the MAC.

While it is true that some great coaches have come out of the MAC, I don't see this guy being compared to any of the legends being referenced here. I think Pitt is in for Wannstedt (round 2), in that a lot of expectations are probably never going to be fulfilled in Pittsburgh with this guy...

Time will tell if I'm right or not...

I think it would be a massive mistake if Mike Heywood is hired. His teams play scared against better competition. I think his play calls are also curious, including his decision to fake a FG in the MAC championship game that would have put Miami up by 2 scores.

"Turnaround" in an awful MAC is sort of relative. You, me, and 9 guys from accounting could compete in that conference.

RE: Updates on Pitt HC search (12-15)
For most of those MAC programs Miami (Oh) beat, no it doesn't.

Miami looked like a NAIA team against UC this year. Really badly coached and prepared team IMO. If UC hadn't called off the dogs at halftime with the 3rd and 4th string, it would have been 80-0.

If Pitt hires a guy who has won exactly 1 FBS out of conference game as a HC (Colorado State) I will laugh my arse off. Admits he can't even recruit low level talent in Ohio, too.

Oh, and do people forget he got demoted for incompetance by Charlie Weiss 3 years ago?

This will be the gift that keeps on giving.

Just maybe Haywood will do a great job. But man firing Wanny the way they did to hire a guy like Haywood is a head scratcher. I hope Waywood does a great job here and I welcome him here.

Mike Leach must be radioactive right now. You know it's bad when Mike Heywood is getting a BCS HC gig and Leach can't get a phone call.

Wait till you get a load of Haywood's assistant coaches. Most are either in year #2 of coaching or were pulled out of retirement off of high school sidelines.

This is mind numbingly silly if this is really the guy.

RE: Updates on Pitt HC search (12-15)
I just find it odd that Pitt, a fantastic institution and athletic program, couldn't get a more "name" coach. With the way you guys have been recruiting I'd think this hurts a bit. I'm just surprised by this whole situation.

As an outsider I'm also wondering what happened to Holgorsen. It seems as though he'd rather wait a year at WVU instead of coaching Pitt right now? I know there is something there that I'm not hearing or seeing but it just seems strange. I'll guess money since everything always points back to that.

This is a very odd hire if it happens. I hope it works out for Pitt.
