Say hello to Belk Department Stores after this year. 04-rock

The good news is the payout will be increased from $1.3M to $1.8M .

And the bad news is it's named after Belk. I love the department store, but it's a bad choice for a sponsor name.

Then again, so was Meineke.

Whew, as a Frog fan living in Charlotte I was afraid the bowl game was going away when I saw the thread title.

The Big East Bowl games are so much better than the MWC.

I think the bowl payout increase started this season, but Meineke is not covering the increase, Raycom (the bowl's operator) is. Belk will cover the increased payout starting next year.

The bowl in Charlotte is certainly one that would be good to see upgrade the payouts. The bowl game has the potential to be one of the really good ones. It's at a travel hub in the south...

Yup and its close enough to the northeastern schools and while cold at that/this time of year by Southern standards its not half bad by Northern ones.

It had me worried as well, I have friends who live in North Carolina so I might go to that bowl if Cincinnati makes it there. Enjoy the new bowl lineups! We have bowls in Florida, New York, Charlotte and even Alabama. And the payouts are strong.

Well, if thats true, we may see this Bowl positioning for #2 during the next round of bowl negotiations, unless the Champs Bowl ups the ante. The Charlotte Bowl has longed to be the BE second place bowl.

I think that's a mistake. The bowl's payout used to be $1 million per team ($2 million total) and likely increased to around $1.7 million per team ($3.4 million)
