Marvin Lewis a candidate for Pitt job?
ESPN listed him as a possibility in a recap of the Bungles game at Pittsburgh yesterday.

He certainly would get more out of his players, but his continuing dumb clock management would make him a suspect hire, in my opinion.

That's all Pitt needs. Another failed NFL coach...

Huh?

How so??

Seeing what he has done in Cinci as a HC...certainly may not bode well for Univ of Pitt.

Mike Tomlin might be better but Pitt has as much chance of getting him as I hit lotto this week.

There is always a chance. If your AD want Lewis, you guys might be better off just keep Wanny. Rest of the BE won't mind if Wanny is back at the helm.

Speaking of which, why aren't you guys talking to the OC at Auburn?

He might be a good candidate. This year was bad but last year he had the Bengals in the playoffs. He seems like he is soft spoken so he might do better in college. Its kind of difficult to coach in Cinncinnati with Ochocinco and Terrell Owens. Terrell Owens particularly would make things difficult for any coach, plus they have had a lot of injuries. Not to give the Bengals excuses but having the Steelers and the Ravens in the same division is tough. They beat up teams physically plus having to play them 4 times in total is hard.

What a train wreck. Did Pitt even have a list prepared before pulling the trigger? If they're thinking Marvin Lewis, apparently not.

Beej, Pitt's problem was that when they pulled the trigger, it was pointed at their head...

RE: Marvin Lewis a candidate for Pitt job?
I posted in another thread about the wide receivers coach at Penn State Mike McQueary who IMO would be a good pick for PITT. Do you think Pittsburgh will give any calls what so ever to Penn State about their job opening???

Just looked up his bio on Wikipedia. So what do you guys think???

Mike McQueary is an assistant football coach at Penn State[1]. McQueary, easily identified on the Penn State sideline by his bright red hair, is a record setting former quarterback for the Nittany Lions. He led Penn State for two seasons, 1996 and 1997, and set several records that still stand. In his position as recruiting coordinator McQueary has overseen the recruitment of several high profile recruits including Justin King, Derrick Williams and Andrew Quarless. Mike McQueary returned to Penn State in 2000 following attempts to catch on in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders[2] and in NFL Europa with the Scottish Claymores[3].

Could he not be a good young hire for Pitt for I doubt he is in line to take over for JorPa if that time ever comes. Just wondering.

It doesn't matter who Pitt hires. Now that WVU has hired Holgorsen to run the offense, Pitt fans can forget about being able to brag after any Backyard Brawls in the near future... 05-stirthepot

Let's see who Pitt hires first. Will Stewart's heart be in it for the 2011 season? Time will tell on both counts.

61-38-3 Better hope Holgorsen is as advertised 'cause your squad got a long way to go, brother.

WVU doesn't have a long way to go by any means...the talent is there. Gino Smith is no Teno Sunseri. Now a quality coach will show how it's done. The most successful coaches in the new Big East have been offensive minded.
