In front of over 700 people at the Peabody Hotel today, Gus Malzahn,
who was coaching high school football up until around five years ago, wins the prestigious Broyles Award, given to the top assistant coach in the country. Many think of just this year when he had Cam Newton as the reason, but if you go back to last year, he took one of the worst offensive teams in college football the year before and completely turned it around, and that was before Cam Newton. He gave credit to all his former coaches that he coached with in high school, many of whom were present today. Gus is a very classy guy, very humble, and will be a head coach very soon. Maybe next season if someone is real smart. It was an extremely popular choice with the crowd.

Good for him. I was hoping he would win it. Just think him getting the award named after the dude that said "his offense won't work in the SEC." And supposedly Broyles "made Nutt hire Malzahn." Back to the circus.

I'll never forget Frank Bolyes cussing out our play by play announcer on air as we beat the piggies at Bud Walton. Class act.
