speaking of scheduling
I don't know what I would do if I were a coach at our level. If you schedule down, you are criticized for buying wins. If you schedule up, you get thumped and your record is terrible. Very long odds of ever getting an at-large in any case. I think I would schedule down for the most part, fatten my record, and then just hope to get hot in the conference tournament at the right time.

I agree, it's a tough call. I personally like playing a tougher OOC schedule. We don't seem to draw anymore fans when we do play an Ole Miss, Tulsa, Creighton, or some better know and normally good programs. I believe that our fans want a better schedule, but the average Joe in central Arkansas couldn't care less who we play. They don't come either way.

Fans like us appreciate the teams we are bringing in. Doesn't mean crap to the average yokel in Little Rock. We would probably get more attention locally if we went into conference season with an 11-1 record againt nobodies. We will have done well to finish around .500 or a little better with our schedule, but it won't mean squat to folks in Central Arkansas.

So do I. I wouldn't want to change that - as a fan. I was wondering what I might do if I were a coach.

In the first half, when we were getting our butts handed to us, I looked around the mostly empty arena and wondered why we were playing a team like Tulsa. We could be playing Grambling, SEMO, or Centenary (I think this is their transition year) and have no less folks in the arena and have a pretty sure "W". At the end of the game I was sure glad we had scheduled a quality opponent and now had a great win on our resume. It just irks me that people in Central Arkansas don't come out to see this type of opponent and we can't even get a gameday article in the local paper. But obviously the fans on this board, and a few others, really appreciate the chance to watch quality basketball teams come into the Stephens Center.

They won't even come out when we schedule SEC teams, but they'll go watch to pigs play Alcorn St at Alltel(Verizon). I seriously doubt that we have four thousand if Duke came in to play at the Jack.

I'm a pretty big fan and I didn't pay $25 to see them play. If it had been $6 I'd have gone. Basically, I'm cheap.
