White Sox, Adam Dunn agree to 4-year, $56 million deal

Adam Dunn has leaped to the Chicago White Sox.

Adam Dunn, the biggest slugger on the free-agent market, has agreed in principal to a four-year deal for $56 million with the Chicago White Sox, according to two officials involved in the contract talks who were unathorized to speak about it publicly because the deal is not yet official.

The deal is expected to be announced Friday after Dunn completes a physical. He spent the past two seasons with the Washington Nationals and has hit at least 38 home runs in seven consecutive seasons. Dunn also has been one of the game's most durable players. He has missed only 26 games since 2003.

The deal for Dunn, according to the two officials, does not preclude bringing back free-agent first baseman Paul Konerko. He hit 39 homers with 111 RBI last season for the White Sox If they are able to re-sign Konerko, the two will share the first base and DH duties.

Crap. I thought when he was traded from the Reds and I moved to Chicago there was no chance I'd see his loafing again.

Good for Dunn. If Konerko stays, they may become the new natural bash brothers.

He was always one of my favorite players. Not a big fan of his D, but if I was a fan of an American League team and they got him I would be very excited.
