Perfect tonight; 0 and 7. Most were blowouts.

Louisville 92 FIU 55
Vandy 82 WKU 62
Alabama 72 USA 50
MoState 80 UALR 46
McNeese 69 ULL 66
Utah State 61 Denver 53
Memphis 78 ASU 71 (about the only game that wasn't an embarassment)

Not sure we can't win the tournament in Hot Springs. Who are we afraid of?

MJS- I've been thinking about this very subject lately. What the hell has happened to Sun Belt Conference Basketball? I know that we really sucked last year, but on average, Little Rock has put a fairly decent product on the floor (not necessarily on style points but in the W/L category), and the conference has had it's usual stalwarts in WKU and either: USA, ULL, or UNT. But now, it's like the entire conference has sunk to all time lows. What gives?

Do you think that the obsession with football, and the draining of resources that it entails, is finally showing itself conference wide. Or is this just an abbreration?

Even WKU got embarrassed by Vandy. Of course, Vandy is pretty good, but they toyed with the Toppers.

Actually Scotto, the SEC East is pretty good in basketball. It's the SEC West that sucks. Just kind of the flip side of football in the SEC.

Good thing we don't play any of the SEC West teams. It would stink to get beat by one of them.

If we couldn't beat some of the SEC West teams, we would really, really, really suck. Auburn is flat out bad. LSU isn't much better. Alabama certainly hasn't impressed so far, so the jury is still out on them. As it is on Arkansas. Mississippi looks like they might be pretty solid, and Mississippi State will be good, especially once they get Bost and Sydney playing.

But in all honesty, assuming Little Rock could play that field home and home, I think the Trojans would do no worse than .500 against the SEC West overall. And we don't have any world beating team either.

Interesting that the one team we play might be "pretty solid". Hedging your bets..?

MTSU, USA and stAte might argue that the SEC West is bit better than "flat out bad". Unless, of course, getting beat is a good thing.

No, just an honest evaluation from a guy who is obsessed with college basketball. We will be lucky to beat Ole Miss, even at home. So will the team in NW Arkansas, unless they get a healthy Powell back and going. If that happens, they might be better than what they have shown so far. That's why the jury is still out.

Oh yeah Scotto. Remember to look at the heading for this thread. I see no reason to disagree with it either.

Someone on the SBC board posed the question of the emphasis on football in recent years has had any negative effect on basketball. I doubt it, but who knows.

Could have some. I'm sure many of the Sun Belt schools are pouring more money down the football drain, and putting less money into the basketball programs. Less money for basketball salaries, and more money for losing football coaches. Obviously that's not our problem.

When you take out non D-1 wins, we're above .500, you guys are at .500. Everyone else has a losing record. And two teams still have zero wins.

Not a great year, to say the least.

The best team in the SBC according is WKU, which is ranked 122nd. Seven teams are ranked 238th or worse.

Hey, FIU is leading Jackson St. from the powerhouse SWAC by one point at the half. Go SBC!
