RE: UC vs Wright State Game Thread
wasn't Sean Kilpatrick super tonight? we need him playing the majority of the minutes now. Good things happen with him in there. Wright State sure hitting the 3's tonight. Not sure what they shoot for the season but they were smokin' tonight.

They finally allowed 60 points and it was almost 70. This defense is terrible!
Best Bearcat stat line in recent memory? Kilpatrick went for 26 points in just 28 minutes... 8-11 FG, 5-5 3FG, 5-6 FT, 3 AST, 0 TO, and 2 STL.

I agree. The first game I saw him play in the summer league looked very much like tonight. I said then that he would score 1,000 points in his career. I'm feeling pretty comfortable with that considering how he has started the season. It's not just the scoring but he plays solid D as well. He needs to be on the floor as much as possible.

Not sure if he's a good enough athlete to leave school early, the fact that they redshirted him makes me doubt he could potentially do that, but if he doesn't go early he's got a chance to go way up the career scoring lists.

S K makes it look easy at times. He's the game changer they've needed since Mick became coach.

Biggest crowd of the year! Last 10 minutes left something to be desired, but if opponents are launching 3's and they go in, then comebacks are inevitable. They looked pretty good on the defensive end for the most part.

RE: UC vs Wright State Game Thread
OK, early in the year I was complaining about Larry Davis a lot. The last few games I have been very happy with his play. Tonight I thought he played his best game as a Bearcat, despite only adding 3 points. He had 3 assists and 0 turnovers, and his defense was outstanding. No one else on our team could keep between their PG (don't know the name, but was #11) and the basket except for Davis. That guy was making everyone else look silly with crossovers, but Davis gave him fits. When he is in he is giving 100% all the time. He still has a boneheaded mistake here and there, but he more than makes up for it with 3 or 4 effort plays, going after a loose ball, or getting a deflection for each of the boneheaded ones.
People questioning why he is getting so many minutes need to get to a game and keep a close eye on him. I think you will come away with a different opinion.

My favorite thing about this team is that they care.

Xavier lost badly to Miami, too. That's a plus. X has been exposed.
Unfortunately, so has Dayton.

Strongly agree about last night. Davis had a huge impact on the game. He has clearly embraced his role on the team, which I think is something that might make this team special, as every player seems to have done that.
I've been more patient with Larry than most. I thought he was terrible when he started here, but a switch seemed to flip midway through his sophomore year. Unfortunately he never found his shot last year, like most of the team, and the year seemed to spiral out of control. If he can give an effort like last night every night, I'm fine with him playing 12-15 minutes a game. He just needs to play within himself.
Having said that, the first 3 or 4 games of the year were pretty brutal to watch from my perspective. I know he is our best defender of quicker guards, but too often it seemed like he didn't know what he was doing or trying to do too much on offense. Hopefully he can build off last night going forward.

RE: UC vs Wright State Game Thread
I have been critical of Larry Davis in the past also, and I too have been happy with his performance the last few games. I don't think he should get more minutes, but I like the way Mick is currently using him. His defense the past couple of years was atrocious, but his foot speed and lateral quickness have improved (possibly from being further removed from surgery?) and his defense has been solid lately. If he can come in to give someone a breather, play good defense, and knock down the occassional three he will be a good role player for us.

RE: UC vs Wright State Game Thread
LD is probably a better player than we give him credit for. I think he has the ability, it just seems the problem is between his ears on the offensive end. He's usually good for a few silly passes and some ill advised shots. If he can get that corrected he can be a good role player for us.
He is a pretty nice perimeter defender, and the best we have on the team. Remember when he shut down that kid from ND a few years ago? (can't remember his name).
We are definitely going to need his services against guys like Kemba Walker, Chris Wright, Ashton Gibbs, and Corey Fisher.
There is a place for LD on this team.
