Conference Play Begins
I'm looking forward to a good competitive game Thursday. You guys looked much better against Western.

RE: Conference Play Begins
I was going to make a post about this today. Mercer will get the toughest (at least currently) A-Sun opponent to start conference play. Mercer is still figuring out how to work together as a team. I've seen spurts of greatness. Belmont on the other hand seems to be running well together already.
Mercer's strengths this year are winning turnover battle, however, poor shooting is not converting to points.
and it's a road game. So the cards are stacked against the Bears. I have faith that a win is possible here, but it's going to take a great week of practice since the last game.
What are your thoughts on the outcome?

We seem to be clicking pretty good to start the season. We usually don't start this solid.
We have a pretty deep bench. Byrd is playing 12 guys a lot of minutes. He'll have to get that down to 9-10 before too long, but that is a good problem to have.
Our rebounding seems a little better than usual. Our inside guys have improved.
Our star player, Ian Clark, seems to be a little quiet. I guess it may be because we haven't needed him to kick it in so much, but I hope he starts to push it a little more in the coming games.
I expect a competitive game like usual for our two schools. I plan to be there tonight.

Well enjoy the game if you end up going. You'll have to give us a report of how it was live. I will say the key for the first half is Belmont's 3 point shooting. 3PT defense seems IMO to be Mercer's biggest weakness. Will be interesting if Belmont attacks the 3PT arc.
