And Texas is like the Detroit Red Wings, New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. They are so full of themselves that they think everyone is jealous.

There isn't a state that I have a negative opinion of (except maybe California. Tough to make the pros outweigh the cons on that one.). Tennessee has a "pro" that their natives are very proud and highly educated about their state's history. Texas natives often take it so far that it is a "con".

Every Tennessean, Georgian, Alabamian, Louisianian, etc. thinks their state is the best. Texans just make sure to tell you that they think that. Over and over and over and over again.

As a native the most obnoxious "Texans" are the non-natives who "adopt" the state.
I had a boss that moved here from Minnesota. He was the obnoxious idiot who made sure EVERYONE in the bar knew he lived in Houston.

Freaking hated the guy!
Very, very true statement. Most wannebe Texans that are transient and move to the Lone Start State are like that. Makes for a lot of folks to have a bad opinion of TRUE NATIVE TEXANS.

I'll give you that. Similar to how the biggest rednecks in my Georgia high school were from Michigan.

The massive amount of Northerners who have moved to the Murfreesboro area all like to tell us how to do things here. If they don't like it, they can take the interstate headed North.

Get this......... many of them cannot stand sweet tea

In 27 years, I've spent approximately three months outside the south(one month of which was this year spent in the United Kindgom) and I cannot stand the stuff...

but I still agree with the spirit of what you said.

RE: UNT AGAIN says NO to the WAC
bragging about being a 'native texan' would be as stupid as me bragging about being a 'native flaridian'......dumb as hell-o.

you're bragging because for some cosmic reason you're frikkin sperm swam into an egg when your pop who happened to be a long haul trucker got drunked up and spilled his seed into the easiest receptacle along the way.

you did nothing to 'earn' it. NOTHING.

if you wanna brag about what great things in life you've accomplished...i can at least respect some of what you've done with your 20+ years as being a 'sack o meat' on this planet....even though i might call you douchey for doing it.

but bragging on 'where you were born' LOLOLOLOL

that's like bragging about being born in the u.s. you didn't have a damn thing to do with it. you just hit the cosmic lottery.

i wish that anyone that bragged about 'where they were born' had been born in the worst slum in india. i'd like to see them bragging about how their slum was better than the slum 4 blocks and 2 million people over.

some of you folks need to get out more often. see the world. you'll find out how infinitesimal your existence is.

some of you folks make me laugh.

p.s. the wal-mart/texas analogy was pretty good to whoever wrote that.

Funny, I don't remember bragging about it. Just made a simple statement.

As far as "seeing" more of the world, thanks to my father's military service there not a lot of people who have seen more of the world than I have.

the fact that you mention you're 'native' denotes you find it 'special'. i wasn't directing my assholiness at you specifically....just any big belt buckle wearer that thinks bein' a 'native texan' makes them special.

and if you've travelled the world (i have no reason to not believe that) yet still find something 'special' about being a 'native xxxxxx' (x's = anywhere) looks even douchier to me.

it means NOTHING. it would be like you bragging that you have 'blue eyes'. you have no say in the matter.

texans bragging on how great their state is like arabs bragging how great the middle east is because their ignorant forefathers (in the arab's case) thought the desert was a great place to settle down. little did they know several hundred years later that fossil fuels would be a premium.

texans are basically the u.s. version of arabs.

texas was blessed abundant natural resources....oil....arizona wasn't. does that make texans better than arizonans???

still laughing.

now i guess you're gonna tell me following a podunk university in the middle of nowhere louisiana makes you 'special'....more special than the rest of us that follow a podunk university in the middle of nowhere xxxxx.

Being the tremendous wordsmith that you are(seriously) I take that as a great compliment.

And your little tirade had me laughing pretty hard and pretty much sums up how I feel about the matter as well.
