Nice game day article
We have one of the better midmajor programs in the country coming to Little Rock today so it was great to see a front page article on the Sports page of the LITTLE ROCK NEWSPAPER. NOT

I usually avoid the sports page after a pig win, but really wanted to read about our big game even if the article was hidden in the back of the sports page. NOT

I told my wife that's why I hate the hogs. She (much more rational than me) pointed out that my anger should be directed at the paper not the hogs. Suggested I write to complain to the sports editor at the paper. Told her myself and others have done that dozens of times over the years. Jeff told me the other day the sports department really has no interest in giving UALR coverage. One of the many reasons he left.

Well, we'll have our usual 2000 since few, other than season ticket holders, know about the game. Hopefully, some of those got the message to wear maroon. I'm sure we'll get front page coverage tomorrow- if we lose. I'm hoping for a win even if that means back page coverage.

That's always been my complaint. I get that the Hogs will and even should get the bulk of the coverage in the paper. Makes perfect business sense to me. But I don't understand why UALR can't get just one article. I really don't think that's asking for too much and don't see how it would be at all detrimental in a business sense, either.

Never fear. We'll get an article when we win the national championship. Maybe.

Then we just go around them. That is one of the benefits of the internet age. Newspapers are largely obsolete, anyway. Jeff has the ball rolling with BTH. Let's keep it rolling.

If they wanted to, they could give UALR an article every day. Boy what I wouldn't give to see the old Gazette again.

You're probably right. I can't start my day without a paper. My kids (early 20's) never even look at it. My older son may glance at the sports page on occasion if it's on the table. Neither has ever bought a paper, and I doubt they ever will.

Oddly enough, when newspapers really do cease to be printed, we are going to miss newsprint. I have started a lot of fires in stoves over the years, and I would have not to have had old newspapers.

strange
It is hard to imagine that a D1 school in a city playing its first significant home game of the season would be ignored by the newspaper in that town. And even more that the administration will ignore being ignored.

Everything is free on the internet, so I get everything I need there. My wife's parents have to have a paper everyday. It is a generational thing.

There is no doubt that no pressure is being put on the paper by the administration. Do they even read the paper? They seem to be more interested in censoring what is written on the board then figuring out why the paper won't give them a decent break on coverage. But some have said that the administration isn't really dedicated to winning anyway. I don't know. I just get tired of no respect.01-lauramac2

I've said it, and I believe it. They're damn sure not as dedicated as I am about winning or building a program that actually has fans that come to the games.
