Both men and women play good teams here
this weekend, and not one article in the Demozette on game day for either program. Just the starting lineups mixed in with the other non-entities. That's just not right. Someone need to have a come to Jesus meeting with those folks in that sports department. I've always sort of defended them in the past, but there's absolutely no excuse not having some article in the paper on game days, especially when we're playing well known opponents from good leagues. Maybe there is a conspiracy after all.03-banghead

There should be a law against impersonating a newspaper.

I already posted on this above before seeing this thread. It is simply unbelievable that the hometown team gets zero coverage from the hometown newspaper. Especially when there is no other DI or pro team in the city. SMU basketball got a game day article when they were playing little ole UALR despite having the Stars, Mavs, Cowboys, TCU, UT, etc. having much more fan support in the area.

As they said in that article about Shields years ago: it is tough being a Trojan in a state that oinks.

I'd drop the rag if there was another source of reading the obituaries. I can get the news and sports on the TV news. If it weren't for the obits, I wouldn't need the SOB's.

I really think that's one of the biggest reasons we have never recruited well in State and particularly in Little Rock. If your hometown paper doesn't take you seriously and give you coverage, why should local players think any differently. We are clearly more highly regarded by players outside the State and apparently outside the country as well.

I would think that the chancellor, or even the University President, or even Chris Peterson could have a pow-wow with the owner of the paper and get some results. Maybe if they got results, the public would get more interested in the program. That's another theory shot all to hell.

I don't think they give a **** whether this program gets any publicity or not. Just make enough money to pay the bills, and have enough money to keep Shields on a lifetime contract. By doing that, it will insure that the program never progresses beyond mediocre.

They could - but their big boss works in Fayetteville. So they never will. They get paid - ultimately - NOT to be successful.

Alan Sugg, the president lives and has an office in Little Rock. He has come to several Trojan games in the past.

I meant that figuratively, not geographically.

I believe I saw him on the front row Friday night.

Come on LRT, don't let the facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory.
