OT: MWC not done, invites Hawai'i for FB only

Other sports will go to the Big West, and the WAC is back in trouble for 2012.

Maybe it means something re: TCU.

This has been posted on the Split/Expansion section. It appears the MWC is out to kill the WAC. See additional comments under Split/Expansion.

WAC is better off without Hawaii as they drop the expense of flying out there and back not to mention the time away from the class room. WAC could go after UC-Davis or try to get North Texas to bolt sun belt.

They might be done. Hawai'i leaving would put them under the continuity clause (six continuous members for five consecutive seasons) and would lose their NCAA tournament autobid. No school is going to want to be a part of that.

Under the circumstances they might be able to get a waiver from the NCAA. It is evident that the MWC is out to destroy the WAC. The NCAA might give some consideration to this. The WAC will have their 5 members plus Denver, UTSA & Texas St., and may also add the U of Seattle. If they don't get a waiver then they would have to qualify with at large bids.

When the MWC was formed, the WAC teams kept the autobid and the MWC teams played for two seasons without an autobid. In both seasons their regular season champ was given an at-large berth and I think they had multiple bids. The NCAA waived the requirement going into the 3rd season and gave the MWC an bid.
