I am not saying anything different. But nationally as far as recruiting goes which is the only thing that matters as far as national coverage goes they don't matter as much as everyone is making them out to be.

I have said in a number of other threads - Murray's job is to get us to the tournament. These two loses don't do anything to stop that.

Incredibly myopic. If ETSU wins some of these non-conference games then perhaps we get a better seed come tournament time. Thus we have more of a chance to actually win a game and advance. That will increase the exposure nationally. I suppose if you are happy getting smashed as a 16 year after year then Murry is your guy. You get some exposure from that but it's not the kind you want. It seems some people have set a goal for ETSU to be the first 16 to win a game. My goal would be to not be a 16 to begin with.

The recruiting bump that comes from making the NCAA tournament will soon end when recruits see that the best you can do here is get a 16. We've reached the ceiling for the A-Sun and it's not getting any higher unless we start winning some games out of conference.

You are right that those two losses or other out of conference losses do not effect us making the tournament. BUT they are HUGE in determining who you play and where you play. If you look at statistics from previous years a 16 has never beaten a 1 seed.

I don't think anything will get the A-Sun above 15 seed - that is not CB's fault. I think that is the consequence of the administration's choice to drop football. I don't hold CB accountable for it.

The difference between a 16 and 15 seed is legitimate to a point. Once every 6 years or so you get a 2 / 15 upset. Still not alot better match up than 1 / 16.

Who knows with the new tournament format.

Trends... its what managers have to look at. Are you satisfied with the trends under Murry? My answer is no. My answer is it's not good enough to make the NCAA....every 6 or so years, you ought to win a game...especially with all the football budget plowed into areas like basketball. Murry has yet to win a game... dominating the ASun does not a resume make except for those with low expectations.

It also really bugs me seeing our attendance drop off. That's revenue dollars and a great way to gauge the health of the basketball program. It is imperative that ETSU grow home attendance.

I wonder which program is more popular...ETSU or Science Hill High School? Chattanooga has turned it around with football....in the black they say. This is an athletic directors responsibility...so football is gone and basketball attendance is going down...What is being done about it? Nothing.

If you want proof you only need to look to Tiggs and Pigram's senior year. We should not have been a 16 that year and we proved it against Pitt. However, we didn't take care of business out of conference and the perception of the A-Sun landed us the 16. We had OOC losses to Morehead State, Hofstra, Temple, and Bradley. All of those were winnable and they came back to bite us hard. Bad conference losses did as well, but the OOC is incredibly important.

I don't subscribe to the fact that a 15 seed is as high as an A-Sun champion can receive. If the Bucs could have come out this year and put a scare into Kentucky, taken out Murray St. at home, knocked off Dayton and CoC at their places, perhaps get a win in Oxford or Starkville, win the Cancun tourney, and finish OOC something like 9-2 then all but run the table in the conference schedule and dominate the conference tournament, I certainly think you could expect more than a 15 seed but maybe I am wrong or my expectations are just too high.

I have one more question. ETSU came out and dominated us with a great zone. Murray, under Kennedy, has never been known to be able to bust a tough zone quickly. When Murray did start hitting the shots, why did your coach stick with the zone until it was too late?

BTW, I wish you guy's were back in the OVC. We will trade UT-Martin for you guys!

Lol.. check the stats in the Kentucky game they lit us up from 3pt range and Bartow stayed with the Zone, We have a team in our league, Belmont that is a 3pt shooting team, Bartow insists on playing zone againist them and they lite us up and beat us like a drum. Bartow is going going to stay zone, period.

You probably won't need it, but good luck against TN Tech. Also, I was looking at your schedule on Yahoo Sports and am I reading it right? 17 away games? Now that is a hell of a schedule!

Anyway, win em' all.

Sounded like he still had both lips firmly puckered to me. I didn't hear
anything negative from Jay.

He was worried about Murry's temper erupting like it did on the fans who left early when defeat was starring at them. The pain is so much that at times that only thing to do is leave.

Watching Murray St. and Ole Miss on ESPN3.com and with about 7 to play in the 1st half, Murray St. is leading 14-12.

Looks like Murray is going down big tonight. Ole Miss up by 18 with about six to play. The Racers have yet to hit 50.

We have no post player. It may be a tough season. Tonight was pretty embarrassing to say the least.

Tough loss. Hope your guys can get it together. I was hoping Murray would win 'em all except for us. Wrong on both accounts, but I'm sure you will be OK. It's hard for mid-majors to handle big expectations sometimes because they're used to nobody expecting anything. Maybe this will be a wake up call for you, which is what I'm hoping our 39 points against the Racers will be for us. Good luck this season!

Thanks. I wish you all well the rest of the way. Oh and I think you are correct about the expectations. There has been so much press in the pre-season this year about Murray, even getting Top 25 mentions. That's all gone now. Maybe the team can relax and come back to earth. I feel the hype was/is getting to them. The thing that scares me is the offense against ETSU and tonight against Ole Miss. Not a good sign so far. I am sure we will bounce back against the no name cream puff coming to the "Bank" Saturday night.

BTW, can someone explain to me why you guy's have so many road games this year? That's gotta be rough.
