Schmidt now has one day off before the team takes the court for their home opener at the Reilly Center to face Arkansas Little Rock. Schmidt was quoted as saying he doesn't even know who the coach of their team is.

Not important. Coach Shields can't play in the game anyway. Does Steve know who their coach is?04-cheers

The quote was simply "disrespecting" us. He knows who our coach is. If not he can call Brad Dougherty.

Maybe he thought Derek Fisher was our coach.04-bow04-bow04-bow

If he actually said that he didn't know who the LR coach was, I don't know if that's so strange. Shields hasn't accomplished anything on the national stage. He's not exactly a household name in America. Probably a lot of basketball fans in Arkansas couldn't tell you who our coach is. Unless the coaches at more recognizable programs have played certain mid-major teams, I would doubt that many of them wouldn't know many of the mid-major coaches.

But if I was familiar with their coach, you would think he would be familiar with ours, since he makes his living in the sport. I think it was a cut.
