The 1st thing that jumps out at me is the fact that they list the starters at the bigs as kibi and jackson. Was that right? We started a couple of less than 6’6” kids and won the rebounding war by 1? That is really great. I know we came out and pressed with that lineup due to smu not having a pg, which is probably why we went that route.
Bails does not play but neither did Marlo and Montrell. They got 8 minutes between them. Did the match-up zone play into this? I really thought Marlo would play some minutes. Is he hurt? Were BIG bigs a match-up problem?
Leeper, a slim big, played 17 minutes. Anyone at the game care to tell what they saw the defense doing that lead to so few minutes by our kids that should be able to score inside? We won going away, I just want to know how our post game looked.
PG, the guy/williams combo produced tonight. Yes, 12 rebounds by two kids that are less than six foot. Someone was hustling after the ball. I would like to hear from someone that was there about how they ran the offense and looked in transition.
Bozeman’s move to off guard looks good in the box score. I want hear about how he looked on the court. How did he fit into what Shield’s system is downing? The box score seems like it worked for him.
A final thought on recruiting. Jackson was a 3 star and kibi was billed as a producer and they both produced tonight. Leeper was billed a Joe kliene must have, well tonight he played 17 minutes of ball in front of a lot of guys that I thought would play in front of him. The pg’s seem like they are at least better at controlling the ball with only ONE turnover.
A road win at SMU, any road win, is a big deal for a team that could not win last year. We fly out today for a game tomorrow and I bet everyone is giving us a chance to win. That second half was something we have been waiting a year for.
Go Trojans, BURN THE HORSE!
