Big East and TCU: Marriage made in realignment heaven
CBS weighs in on the Horned Frogs to the Big East:

Forget geography. These are desperate times. The Big East already goes from Connecticut to Florida as it is. What's the difference between that and flying to a major hub in Dallas Fort-Worth? TCU, with one of the smallest enrollments in the country, still brings virgin television and recruiting country to the Big East. What is old to the Big 12 (the Dallas market) could be key to the Big East. The relationship could be symbiotic. If TCU joins before the 2012 season its recent success could count toward the Big East's BCS credentials, which are evaluated for all members every four years.

Screw that small potato! It's all about tv sets. The University of Mexico City will bring in 20 million viewers! Also add in Toranto Polytechnic for another 3 million and Chongqing A&M in southwest China with more than 32 million people. Boom! Big East has 55 million new viewers! Take that SEC!!!!04-rock

Dodd: "The Big East got a waiver from the other BCS commissioners in December 2008 to stay in the exclusive club because the television partners wanted access to those Northeast markets."

Ummm...No. The Big East met the established criteria outright. 01-wingedeagle

They didn't need the exemption. Even MWC Thompson conceded this fact publicly after b!tching and moaning for a couple years about how unfair it was that the BE had an AQ bid while the MWC didn't.

Now, if the same criteria is used for 2014 and beyond, then the BE might need to get that exemption but its case is helped not just by the northeastern markets, but also by the fact the conference met the criteria without the exemption previously.

Cheers,
Neil

Exactly Neil our average champion's ranking was in the Top 10 I believe going into 2008. We didn't even need a waiver in 2003/2004 either as far as the BCS is concerned.
