Hopefully Nova decides against making the jump. In fact, if the expansion is TCU only, it gives the BE the biggest boost in AQ status. Not that it's the be all end all, but why add a school that will be a net negative to the AQ status when we can actually increase the BE credibility with just one addition. Also, I would prefer to see the conference games at 8 only, not 9, so adding a 10th does not make sense to me.

Living in the heart of ACC country I can tell you they ain't about to add anybody. They got burned during the last expansion (football still sucks and Almighty basketball has taken a hit). In fact I could see the ACC contract with BC going back to the Big East with no tears on either side......

See that wasn't that hard. 04-cheers

I could also see that happening. I wouldn't mind seeing Maryland coming along with them.

I just shotgunned a whole pack of Life Savers and got a sugar rush. Expect more crappy posts when I crash in 15 minutes......

You are going to be seriously disappointed if you're hoping for superconferences. There are reasons and things that will stop that from happening so it's time to improve the Big East.

Don't worry, I'm not holding my breath. I agree that the BE needs strengthened, and the best possible approach in my opinion is to get TCU into the BE ASAP to get to 9 and then stop for a short period of time. Taking TCU now would IMO checkmate the MWC for trying to get an AQ. That would give the BE some time to see if any schools unexpectedly falls into the BE lap. Can't hurt to wait and see for 6 months after the FBS season is over.

Completely agree. Just sit at 9 teams. If Nova wants to move up fine, if not fine. Theres no reason to go past 9 until someone separates themselves. Houston, UCF, ECU, Memphis, Temple... none of them are going anywhere. Houston would probably end up in the MWC but its not like that would stop them from joining the big east if we invited them.

I'm on the same page with both of you guys.

And from what I heard my theory is Texas getting their deal and the pending Big East deal/expansion/BEN are tools being used to prevent superconferences.

Then for the sake of the BE I hope you're right. I strongly believe that the future of CFB should have more power conferences with membership numbers between 8 to 10 (no more, no less), eliminate the conf champ games and replace those games with a first round playoff. Pair the winners of the first rounds in the BCS bowls (Sugar, Orange, etc), the losers in one step down bowls (Cotton, Gator, etc) and let the rest of the bowls picking in such a framework to ensure that all power conferences are basically equally represented in the lower tiered bowls.

I love it. 04-rock

This point is worth a 2nd look. In all the hot air about expanding to 12, this point gets completely overlooked.
