Defense simply has been on the field waaaay toooo long---NIU doesn't even have to try anymore----hope no potential recruits are watching.

Are you serious?

Owen actually has the ability to stretch the defense with the pass.

Dantin may be a good runner, but he would already be out of the game by now. Our OL hasn't given our RB's a chance to get started all night.

no dispute owens has a strong arm

Dantin has a lot of intagibles that make him a good QB and leader as well

oh, well, tough night for the Rockets

Owens needed more experience before a game like this

We're all that's on...there are more than recruits watching...make that were watching. This is a freaking joke. Penalties, missed tackles, poor blocking by the OL. The team does not even look prepared. Our D is jumping all over the place, looking to the sidelines for guidance. 67 is going to get Owens killed if he remains in there. From what I've seen, he's not ready for prime time.

Our boys need to get in the freaking weight room. Their OB has trucked a number of our guys...pathetic.

The defense is exausted! The have not made a play all night. We are being out coached, out hustled, out classed in every facet of the game.

Owens definitely needs experience, but a different QB wouldn't change the outcome in my opinion. Our D can;t stop them. Sure they are tired now, but they have had them in a number of 3rd down situations and keep giving up the 1st down. Not sure what is up with Des Marrow, but he is having a rough night...penalties, missed tackles, etc. I'm sure he was hoping to perform better givne what happened last time he was on that field.

Nice arm----too bad Owens wasn't throwing from the UT 40 yard line rather than from midfield

I agree 100%...I wanted to believe we were as good as our record indicated, but we're being exposed big time on National TV once again.

Seriously, Danitn would not have made of bit of difference in this game. Owens is the better talent period. In the next 3 years he is going to be dangerous. Our D and Coaching is what lost this game. Not the QB,

As much as I am confident in Tim Beckman and his staff, I am beginning to have serious questions in game preparations that have really hampered this team.

Agree, TO shows a lot more promise. He just needs to calm down a bit on his throws. He gets excited and overthrows a bit.

He threw a great pass on the run that Jones dropped.

The team is firing on 3 of 8 cylinders tonight. Perhaps in the second half they can get 5 or 6 firing.

The thing that is frustrating, is that NIU is doing what they do in every game they play. Nothing fancy. We look unprepared and we are not tackling or making plays on either side of the ball when they present themselves. Owens definitely make to strong of throws occassionaly on deep passes. That will improve once he get a feel for them. I agree that the throw he made to Jones ( of course dropped, par for the course tonight) was a laser and not many guys in College Football can make that throw. Our Defense looks like the UT D's from 2006-2009.

NIU is not Colorado and is not going to blow a 4 TD lead like the Buffalos did----so the MAC west is settled---but what UT needs to do now work on their game and execution for the future----also it will help if the OC comes out of his coma

i'm not promoting Dantin over Owens here

there will very certainly be another competition this spring and fall for the starting position if they both stick around

Owens will be on a more level footing experience wise by then and it will be a compelling storyline

he has a great arm, that's all i know about him so far

Beckman and Staff should have to apologize to ESPN for this performance.
