Why are people here upset about these supposed "football-only" invites? These "fears" are based on nothing more than a couple of articles speculation that some in the league would prefer to make such an offer to added members--and the blogs and message board chatter that followed.

The Big East has invited VU to move up if they choose to and can. Other than that they haven't officially or unofficially put out any invites--let alone football-only ones. Saying some would prefer this and changing it into -it's already a done deal and teams are rejecting the offer--is another made up fantasy--never happened.

agree, I doubt they are even in the negotiating phase yet. They just got approval to move forward, my guess is they are trying to figure out what to move forward with.

All they have done so far is "They unanimously approved the process to evaluate the terms and conditions for potential expansion candidates. " They are determining the terms and conditions for potential candidates--they haven't set them yet and haven't offered any invitations on those terms and conditions.

Nah. Unless it shows up in an official press release, it hasn't happened.

There's no "may be true" about it--it IS true. Everything else is people making things up for whatever reason. Relax. The Big East will make the appropriate moves when they have finished with their process--and it isn't going to be mid season this year.
