UCF vs. Florida would certainly be an interesting Liberty Bowl this year.

Not to slam on UCF, but I'm guessing UF would try to do anything in its power to avoid that situation. I would hope not, though.

Congrats on your season so far 04-bow

UCF is having a good season. If they win out they will finish ranked but one slip and theyll be out. I dont think UF would go for that in the Liberty Bowl but who knows

Congrats on finally getting the monkey off their back and getting ranked but its hard to tell how good a season UCF is having since CUSA is so terrible. UCF is winning the games it "should" as the combined record of the 7 teams they have beaten is 24-40. Without making a prediction about their upcoming game against SoMiss, they "should" beat Tulane (3-6) and Memphis (1-8) to finish the season with no less than 9 wins. That's a good season but we won't know how "good" they really are until they play SEC #8 in the Liberty Bowl.

Florida is getting better again. I see them winning the SEC East and going to the Outback bowl. They won't come anywhere near Memphis, LOL.

Remarkably Florida has an opportunity to play in a BCS bowl game. They play for outright first place next week against South Carolina and then have Appy State and fading FSU. Regardless of what happens against FSU they could easily win the east and have a very good shot at beating the winner of the SEC West. Auburn is good....but has also been very, very lucky.

What would be interesting to see is how the national media would react to a three loss SEC BCS team.

Cyber, that Florida State team you say is fading still has a chance to play for a BCS bowl too...

Too bad that the SEC's deal with the Liberty Bowl prevents the following matchups

1) Repeats of regular season games
2) Games between two teams from the same state

Teams like Ole Miss, Tennessee, 'Bama and Auburn wanted to prevent themselves from playing Memphis, UAB and getting beat. Includes UCF-Florida.

True, and theoretically so does USF....

F$U has not looked good the last two weeks.

You can point to a lot of teams and say they didn't look good during a 2 game stretch. Virginia Tech is a prime example...

Yes, but Virginia Tech lost in the beginning of the season and would be considered "on the rise"

Can you point me to something that shows that? I'm curious and saw nothing in my search to show that the rule is no longer in effect.

Edit: In the meantime, I have an email out to Steve Erhardt, the bowl's executive director.

The key word in your sentence is "considered", which means it's all subjective. Virginia Tech could be in for a fall, and Florida State may have just weathered the storm that formed their mettle. You just never know...

WOW, UCiF seems to be the best of a bad lot. Really hard to tell how good they really are......

Orlando Sentinel

"And to answer the question many of you have already asked, Liberty Bowl Executive Director Steve Ehrhart told Bianchi there no longer is any clause in bowl agreements preventing two teams from the same home state from play in the bowl game."

RE: Coaches Poll 11.7.10
UCF is no Boise or anything close - but similarly to Boise, we can only play the teams that are on our schedule and are handling them like we should.

Bad teams are being blown out.
Good teams are being handled (Houston by 7 despite leaving 10 pts on field, ECU by 14)
Top 25 caliber teams have gone down to the wire...We'd love another shot at NC State and Kansas State but we lost fair and square. Both were fantastic games.

I expect us to beat Southern Miss by 2-3 scores and put Tulane and Memphis away by halfway through the 2nd quarter.

Google Shanna Mclaughlin if you'd like to see them in full - she was the July playmate and has a series of UCF photos that a local magazine shot for the fall preview issue. Caused a bit stir locally because they actually shot them in the locker room...well, it caused a stir because the news has nothing better to talk about.
