Hypothetical
Hypothetically - and I don't think this has more than 1% chance of happening - what would you guys think about UCF returning if we accepted FB-only to the Big East?

I really don't see us looking to the A-Sun, nor do I see the A-Sun considering us. There's simply too much difference between when we left and now in terms of resources being expended on athletics, where the conference is now, etc. But I figured I'd ask for your thoughts out of curiosity, both on whether you'd even want it considered and what you'd think if it did happen.

CitrusUCF, totally respect you as a UCF alum myself, but you're really reaching for straws here my man. The entire UCF University would implode and cave in if that ever happened. UCF's days as an A-SUN are loooong gone, never to return. And even if they did want to return, the ASUN aren't going to take them back only to see them depart in a few short years once an all-sport invite comes around.

BTW, UCF at Stetson - you coming up for the game? I can't wait.

RE: Hypothetical
I agree that there'd be a total implosion on the UCF side...just wondering what A-Sun fans thought about the idea.

I won't be making the Stetson game since it's midweek (I live in Tallahassee), but I'm sure the place will be full of UCF fans. I know a lot of UCF fans that are excited about renewing the series and even more excited about taking over the Edmunds Center for a road win over Stepson. 05-stirthepot Let's just hope Stetson gets it together in the A-Sun this year so the win actually helps in the RPI. 03-wink

RE: Hypothetical
Not sure if you saw this, but this was taken from Mike Bianchi's latest Big East/UCF article...

"Conference USA has already let it be known that it does not want UCF without its football team. You know what that means? It means every sport other than football would be forced to go back to the dark ages of playing in the Atlantic Sun or Sun Belt or some other third-world, fourth-tier league."

Jesus. I guess the Sun Belt would be neat for a year or two. ha

RE: Hypothetical
"I think it's in our best interest to be all in one conference," Tribble told the Sentinel in May. "… I think to have a separation of a football in one league and all the other sports in another league is something I'm not willing to consider. Now obviously that's a decision that will be made by Dr. Hitt and our board, but in my conversations with him in the past it's something that we wouldn't want to entertain. We want to be in one conference all the time."

RE: Hypothetical
Yeah, I think the UCF administration's stance is all sports or nothing with the BE. But if they're just flat out denied on that, I think we'd be stupid to turn down FB-only, but the only conferences that I think we could agree to for Olympic sports would be the A-10 (with whom the BE apparently has a good relationship) and the Colonial. Anyone else is a step down from CUSA and we couldn't justify all the investment we've made in basketball and baseball.

Only if they signed a deal with at least 5 years. Then sure, why not?
