LOL.....I don't give a horses behind how many countries love the American culture so much they had to steal the name of our AMERCIAN sport... Football=futbol= is still SOCCER. Call me out all you want for NOT CARING about soccer.

I'll make a deal... Fan1... Make an ETSU Soccer folder and l'll stay as far away from that as Dooley from an endzone in an SEC game.

I must also say again here that the division 1 soccer program was started from scratch by the administration without asking us if we wanted it. They also did it without a student vote. All the while maintaining that they just "could not afford" 1-AA football. Plenty of money found somewhere for soccer. Also we alumni and fans support all of our sports. If they want to have soccer then that is fine as long as they re-instate the much more wanted collegiate football program. We are basically not going to keep quiet until they do. Also an FCS football team has a much greater chance of paying for itself that soccer ever will.

Just maybe ETSU7 has a point. Even though lots of folks here have a different perspective, isn't this a board that's supposed to be FOR the university? While we might not agree on exactly what that might mean, isn't there room for some, uh, diversity of thought? Perhaps one might wonder if an overall negative attitude (whether correct or not) is going to change the minds of anyone who might be in position to do something about restoring football. One might also wonder why being a "vet" negates the opinion of a "newbie." Or maybe we're not a pro-ETSU board after all, maybe we're really an anti-anything-but-football board.

The athletic department will not be right without football. Every other state university in the state has a football team for very good reasons. They afford it and have no problems doing so. Not having a football team is like giving up men's basketball. It is a bottom line sport that cannot be dropped. We will have a perfect right to complain until they do what it takes to re-instate the FCS level football program. It is that simple. With every other school having football it is beyond emabarassing for ETSU. When this is corrected we will be happy and the fans and alumni will be united again. After, not before. Period.

There's a difference between having a perspective that is BLIND to the reality that we've (VETERAN posters) discussed for several years now (and yes, I was active on SoConHoops and others) and being "new" and bringing the whole "breath of fresh air" approach to supporting this regime and the "programs" that are being promoted.

By "forgetting" what was done, the lies that were told, the people that were hurt, and the history that is being negated... YOU ARE DOING EXACTLY WHAT "THEY" WANT YOU TO DO!!!

Kind of like smoking a cig eventhough there's a big old warning sign that it might just cause you CANCER.

ETSU's current administration is the tobacco company... and if we just keep smoking the cigs they hand us, we're just as guilty and liable for the disease.

I don't think it ever gets boring to hammer home that there are PLENTY of people who despise the fact that budgets were enhanced, salaries took dramatic leaps, conference-affiliations were screwed, lies were told/sold, student athletic fees were increased, and SPORTS were ADDED.

I'll hammer until I get kicked off this board, which I doubt will happen. You kicked off Pitt because he went off his meds and just didn't agree with his "tactics"... didn't like him very much in terms of his standards of conduct toward the deceased BUT the man knew his stuff and didn't apologize for it.

This is exactly how banning Pitt for a year backfired on the board. The administration, and I'd place money this guy works for etsu, is trying hard to sneak in and get a foot hold on how we look at them. DO NOT fall for it.

HOW DARE YOU ATTACK ME and my support of ETSU athletics? Because I don't like the sport of North Korean kickball? Or is it that I think Lindsey Devine and those morons working under her have as much business running a division I volleyball program as an infant monkey? You came after me I'm sure after someone at ETSU put you up to it, because chances are you work there, either in the athletic department or somewhere close to it. If you happen to play communist kickball, then FINGER OF SHAME to you for posting here. Maybe if you'd spend less time worrying about me and more time figuring out how to beat Gulf Coast you wouldn't be number two to a school making the D-II transition.
As for ETSU, I love the university. I grew up a UT fan, as my family all came from the Knoxville area, I still always have respected and loved ETSU. As a student, I drove all over the place supporting the basketball team, and WORKED MY ASS OFF as a student trying to promote the men's and women's programs using my major. And you know what? It wasn't just basketball. I showed up at women's communist kickball matches, through rain, cold, whatever watching that garbage program lose match after match after match. I was there to see the softball program conistently get their brains beat in, and outside of one year with the beach juco's that Devine backed into, same deal with volleyball. I did it not for fame, glory or a job because lord knows none of that ever panned out from my time at ETSU, but because I wanted to see us try and get our name out there.
And you know something else? We sit at the damn children's table of college athletics and ALWAYS WILL as long as morons like you, Dave Mullins, his fat obnoxious stupid troll of a wife Jackie, that "Couldn't hack it at App" wildebeast Barbie and the rest of the morons continue to drop the ball at ETSU and not get American football back, get us out of the Atlantic Sun and be about something.
One last thing, I don't give a rat's ass what it's called in 43 other countries, over here it's nothing more than communist kickball.

There was a 1,000+ at the soccer game. I went with a group of 30 guys myself and while non of us were all that into soccer we did enjoy screaming at the UNC players. Good game that ended up in an un-eventful loss.

For what its worth, over 1100 showed up to see us win the conference championship and they were not here for North Carolina.

Again, I hate soccer but my point is many people like it. There are decent crowds that show up even for high school soccer in this area

Banning Pitt**** has been the best thing that's ever happened to this board. It's SOOO much more civil and reasonable.
But I think I understand your point: he was a strong voice against drinking the Kool-Aid. But I think pretty much all of us with a brain got that, anyway..........
Not to mention, as I've said many times in the past, his voice actually *hurt* "the cause" because he was so easy to ridicule and paint as some sort of radical extremist.

All that being said, one is tempted to almost offer up congratulations to mullins, et al, because their 'plot' to have the media drink the Kool-Aid has been somewhat successful. Never in my life would I have imagined ETSU futbol scores and articles on the front page of the sports section, or being talked about on the local television sports shows. Indeed......there is nearly as much coverage as there would be if this was football instead. In this regard, mullins and co. have succeeded more than I would have guessed - and it sickens me that the media has allowed them to ingratiate(?) themselves in this manner.

I think we, the fans, have a role in this for not being vocal enough against the Mullins agenda. We argue on this board but other than that we are utterly useless.

Arguing on this board is useless as well, we act as though they care what we say.

I also agree that Banning Pitt was great. My posts will occur much less often when he comes back. Hopefully he has grown up a bit
