Class players
DI and I spent a good bit of time talking to Muntrelle Thornton last night. Intelligent, engaging, and mature young man. I asked him if the Stephens Center greatly influenced his decision to come to UALR. He said it had no effect whatsoever. He figured any DI program would have a decent arena. What was his main reason for coming here- "Coach Shields graduates his players". Muntrelle is taking 21 hours, 7 classes this semester (I never took more than 3- my school was on the quarter system). Muntrelle won't be in the NBA, but he will be a success in life.

He really is a well grounded young man. I also visited with him and he's extremely interested in obtaining his degree, which should happen next December. He wants to go into law enforcement. Really great young man.04-cheers

Thanks for that post. So much for the idea that good academics has no effect upon players. Probably not on the upper tier.

21 hours?! That is a killer schedule. How does he have time to play basketball?
