Not to put too fine a point on it but ghosts shouldn't be involved until THIS Sunday.

Definitely thought of the Fat Punter when I saw that play.

I was there that day in 1994. I've recounted it in this space many times. Never to be forgotten.

Too funny! 04-bow

Didn't CMU's punter actually score though on that play when it happened?

We may have to pull out that old play this week against BG. It might be the only points we score. 03-weeping

Yes, he scored. And if you need that to score against us on Saturday, you are truly pathetic. 03-wink

Yep, it was UNLV, the same team we stomped in the regular season with an outstanding running back, Brian Pruitt (he was injured and could not play in the bowl game).

Actually, I was hoping that punter still had eligibility and we could enroll him in grad school this week.

Forgot about Pruitt being hurt, CE...now it's coming back to me. Didn't they even have him try to warm up before the game and then decided he was a "no go". I think that bummed the team out and they played flat without him.

Yup, that's exactly what happened, eCK. No running game, no win. In the regular season game, Pruitt ran all over the Rebels.

BG lost a close game to NC State to start that season. Steamrolled everybody else in sight. Then lost to the Fat Punter on the last game of the season. 9-2, no hope of a 2nd MAC bowl in those days.

RE: Fat Punter Week
Yeah, I remember BG was a tough team that year. Ironic as in the days the MAC had so few bowl opportunities (1 per year really), and we had numerous bowl worthy teams that sat home. Miami had a number of good teams in the 90's that never sniffed a bowl...even beat the B10 champion in '95 but no bowl with something like an 8-3 record.
