UWF and the A-Sun?
UWF has updated their master plan. While the article doesn't mention a move to D-1 post-moratorium, the planned upgrades do not sound like something a D-2 school makes in my opinion. The master plan also includes a football stadium.

So, what is the possibility you think of West Florida to the A-Sun when the moratorium ends? If they do actually start football, another non-scholly team would help hurry the A-Sun FB league along.

RE: UWF and the A-Sun?
While I must admit I do not want another non D1 added to the league, at least the ones we got turned out to be pretty solid. USC-Upstate is lagging behind, but at least they are showing some effort with renovations and big recruiting class.

I'm interested to see what the ASun does. They can always just sit tight with 10 members for now.

RE: UWF and the A-Sun?
UWF would have a rather curious set of options should they upgrade:
  • Southland - Pensacola isn't that far from Louisiana, but all of the travel would be to Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas, which makes for lots of time on I-10. Southeastern Louisiana would be their closest rival at 3.5 hours away. One thing that might help is that all of the schools talking of moving to FBS are in Texas, which would leave only Texas-Arlington and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as the bad road trips.
  • Big South - With the Big South's southernmost members being in South Carolina, travel would be an issue, even though the Big South sponsors football and has similar institutions.
  • Ohio Valley - Jacksonville State, should they stay, would be a natural rival, and travel would be better than the Big South.
  • Atlantic Sun - Travel is the best here, with only a couple of schools over 8 hours away (and one of them is leaving). The major drawback is that the Atlantic Sun does not sponsor football.

My prediction would be Atlantic Sun for all sports except football, which would be played in the Big South.

I'm gonna be a little disappointed if UWF has a football team before UNF...
