common now than in the past. When you think of those just in our program. Matt and Tramar on the men's team, Asriel last year, and Chas this year. I don't know the reason, but it does seem more prevalent.04-cheers

I guess foot injuries are part of participating in athletics. It seems that we had a lot more serious foot injuries when we had to practice in the old field house. I recall several broken bones in the feet of players from back then, one that comes to mind was Malik Dixon. I always thought that there must have been something wrong with the floor in that gym to cause so many foot problems.

I do remember Malik having foot problems. It could be that so many of the players can jump so high now, even Matt can dunk the ball, and when you're coming down on your feet with that velocity so many times, it could be the stress is too much for the feet. Plus you're running on a hard surface every day in practice, and in games. The cumulitive effect might be the problem.01-lauramac2

Plus players, particularly post players, weigh more than they used to.

But none of the four I mentioned are large people. I think the big guys are more susceptible to knee injuries since knees are not made to carry huge amount of weight.04-cheers

That is a curious fact. You would think that the modern shoes would help eliminate foot injuries.

I think it's mostly because of all the fast-breaks and awesome tomahawk dunks we've become accustomed to. Coach Shields might want to have the guys walk the ball up the court every now and then.

There were some awesome dunks last season. Unfortunately they were against our guys. 03-weeping
