I couldn't live without it now....can't tell you how much I hit the pause button and rewind to get back to something....

Hah! Sounds like what I have to do when my HUSBAND's running his mouth. This sort of thing is not gender-specific, just sayin'. 03-lmfao

Yup, same here. BF never wants to talk until I am watching something good 03-banghead

aha
we have explored our way to the root of the problem. "Watching something good." See those words SOMETHING and GOOD represent the part that IS gender-specific.

Family Guy = Good
Greys Anatomy = Terrible
Three Stooges = Good
Oprah = Godawful

I'll talk all day thru GA and Oprah's nasty arse
because hearing my own voice has GOT to be better than listening to Oprah hollering like a banshee like she does.

I've never met a man that didn't agree that a woman could easily spend 3-4 hours discussing her 8 hour work day (either on the phone with a female friend or an ear-bending, one-sided rant directed at the nearest man, wall, cat, etc.).

A couple of the men claimed that it would take 9 hours for a woman to describe an 8 hour work day.

At least they have boobs, that's a plus.

I can remember a conversation happening once during lunch, and I let out a /sigh bc my gf at the time had told the story multiple times and I knew how long it would take. She took a look at my face and heard the sigh and said...care to do better. I said immediately "absolutely" I'll tell it in minimal time with every major point, so...she said go ahead. I went along and told the story, looked back and said...did I miss anything. She (absolutely hating to admit so) said, yeah you covered it.

Take out some of the emotion, minor & unnecessary details, and bam a short & concise version appears.

The question remains. But there's also a reason that you have 30,000 posts. :) Women can not STFU. Period. I'll run out and find me a nice Amish girl.

RE: Why do women hate peace and quiet?
Several keys to add to a happy marriage:
1. garage fridge - well stocked with cold beer. It will often come in handy: lawn work, "working" on projects, etc...use your imagination
2. TV in the garage - No explanation needed here
3. Gas grill with 4 to 5 burners - use indirect heat as it takes way longer to cook and it's vogue. Just watch FoodTV! Takes twice as long and see item # 1.
4. TV on the patio - again, no explanation needed.

These 4 items all work together in harmony IF you plan carefully.

Wife: "Are those burgers done yet????"
Me (with beer in hand and game on patio TV): "You want your buns toasted don't you?"

Heh, buys another 30 minutes of game time!

I just realized that missj doesn't qualify for this part of the criteria.

My wife thinks standing directly between me and the tv is effective. It really let's me watch the game while she thinks I'm looking at her

Its simple really. They just dont want you to be happy unless they are somehow involved and responsible for that happiness. If you find enjoyment from anything else, it is like a slight to them.
